Rethymno is the third largest city in Crete. It enchants all visitors with its charming streets and historic landmarks. The Old Town is known for its beautiful old-world harbor and delicious food. We would recommend exploring the popular port, with its ample shops and restaurants!
What better way to spend the evening than sipping and sailing?! The port of Rethymno offers countless boating excursions, and if time allows during your stay, we would recommend taking full advantage! See link below for a highly-rated sunset cruise, which comes with complimentary cheese and wine. The excursion is offered in both Greek and English.
If you know us at all, then you would know that our dream is to one day run a bed-and-breakfast on an olive orchard in Greece; allowing travelers from all around the world to experience the rich taste and learn about the enriching culture of olive oil production. Therefore, another local recommendation would be to check out the local mill and taste all the amazing Cretan olive oils. See link below for a highly-rated tour.
Crete is an island rich in culinary culture, with ample restaurants that showcase fresh seafood from the Mediterranean sea, and celebrate local ingredients that make the food scene of Crete unlike any other. Visit the link provided for a few highly-rated local restaurant recommendations in Rethymno.
This winery is located a bit outside of Rethymno, but we would highly recommend visiting the Manousakis Winery, a popular winery in the southern part of Crete. It will require a bit of a drive from Rethymno, but if you're a wine connoisseur, it would be worth the trip. Make sure to make your reservations plenty in advance!
