Paige came across Alex in an instagram comment section and, naturally, had to investigate. His photography immediately caught her attention… and his hair definitely didn’t hurt either. One scroll turned into several, a few comments turned into a message, and that message turned into endless phone calls late into the night. They talked about everything and nothing at all, as if they were making up for lost time. What started as a simple interaction quickly became something deeper — easy, exciting, and undeniable. Then Alex did something bold: he made the spontaneous decision to drive seven hours to Colorado just to see her. Their first kiss felt like it had been written into a movie script. It was snowing lightly the night he arrived. Paige saw him standing under a lamppost outside her little forest service cabin in Minturn, snow drifting down around him. They kissed there in the quiet snowfall, and in that moment, she knew there would be many more kisses in the snow for the rest of their lives. It felt as though they were the only two people in the world — the silence around them softened and muffled by dendrites falling from the night sky. Time slowed. Everything was still. It was just them. Alex was only supposed to stay one night, but one night quickly turned into two. Their first real date was getting coffee in Edwards, snow coming down as they walked into the shop together, light catching in the snowflakes around them. It was simple and unplanned — and perfect in its own quiet way. When he left after those two days, saying goodbye felt impossible. They wouldn’t see each other for the next three weeks. Paige was finishing her seasonal position in Minturn and traveling home to Kentucky before heading back to her next job in Leadville. But three weeks later, Alex boarded a flight from Utah to Kentucky just to help her drive across the country and move into her new bunkhouse in Colorado. What began in a comment section became snowy kisses, long drives, cross-country adventures, and choosing each other again and again. What started in the glow of a phone screen soon stretched into snow-covered evenings and highways that carried them back to each other again and again. That seven-hour drive wasn’t simply a journey to Colorado — it was the beginning of a lifelong love story.
It happened high in the mountains, the way so many of their best memories have. Alex took Paige ski touring on Guardsman’s Pass in Big Cottonwood Canyon — her first backcountry tour in Utah. She was giddy the entire drive up, excited to see Utah dressed in fresh snow, excited to share another mountain day together. Alex, on the other hand, was acting… nervous. Paige assumed it was about conditions, about safety, about the weight of the snowpack and the responsibility that comes with backcountry terrain. When she asked, he reassured her with a small smile, saying he was just thinking about their upcoming move back to Colorado. She believed him. They began the steady climb, snowboards strapped to their backs, boots crunching into the snow as the mountains opened up around them. About three miles in, they stopped — just like they always do — to build their signature charcuterie board balanced across their snowboards, complete with a bottle of Oliver’s, of course. As a drone pilot, Alex setting up his drone didn’t seem unusual. Paige thought nothing of it. It was just another mountain moment being documented. But then he took her hand. With the quiet of the mountains surrounding them and snow stretching in every direction, Alex spoke from his heart. No script, no rush — just honesty. Then he got down on one knee and asked her for forever. The mountains stood still around them, wide and bright and impossibly beautiful. It felt like a scene from an indie film — the kind they had unknowingly been writing together since that first snowy night in Minturn. Paige, of course, said yes. And after holding each other for a long moment in the alpine quiet, they strapped into their boards and rode down the mountain — not just finishing a tour, but beginning the next chapter of their lives together.
