This is a popular Boulder beer staple and distributed in over fourteen countries. These beers run the gamut from a session-style ale under 5% all the way up to their unique greats, which top 18%. Avery helps support several Boulder staple facilities in the area that influenced Andy growing up, including Boulder's Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) and The Spot Bouldering Gym. Their brand-new facilities are gorgeous and definitely worth a visit if you have the time. A perk - also a wonderful place to grab dinner!
This brewery toes the line between a woodsy-hippy hole-in-the wall and a local Colorado sports bar. While Twisted Pine is best known for crazy vegetable beers and their famous “Ghost Face Killah” beer brewed with ghost peppers, don’t sleep on the Pumpkin Pie beer, one of Allison’s favorites.
Another one of Andy’s favorites, these guys just make great beer. Some of our personal favorites are the Oatmeal Stout, Belgian Style Pale Ale with Coriander, and for Allison, the Blackberry Lemon Sour.
Sanitas is great – but please remember the rehearsal will be held here so you will get a chance to go if you’re in town on Thursday! This is the brewery where Andy worked when he lived in Boulder. You truly can’t go wrong with any of their offerings!
Intro/Moderate Loop. This was Andy’s go-to trail run in college and is a wonderful five mile “lollipop” loop, which means there’s one entrance/exit. It takes you through some gorgeous, mellow Colorado plains landscape and a more forested loop culminating in some wonderful mesa views.
Intermediate loop. The Fowler Goshawk Loop is a trail that gives you a little bit of everything, as well as some great views. It is approximately 4 miles and can take 1-2 hours depending on how fast you walk. One of Allison’s favorite trails!
Challenging. Royal Arch is one of the front range go-to challenges. Be ready though, because there are long stretches of “stair stepper” sections on this trail. Although only 3 miles long, this trail has 1,400’ of elevation gain culminating in a panoramic view of Boulder and the surrounding front range plains.
This restaurant has been around since Andy was a kid and serves possibly one of the best steaks Allison has ever had. An all-around wonderful spot with a fantastic happy hour, the Cork is an excellent treat yourself spot!
Andy will tell you that no burrito is complete without being smothered in green chili, and Santiago’s, a small, local chain, does for quick, cheap, and traditional better than anyone. Andy raves about the carnitas burrito deluxe, half and half (half hot green chili, half mild), and Allison is a purist with the beef bean and cheese burrito, plain.
Casa Alegre in Louisville is Andy's family go-to, with great margaritas (in multiple sizes), massive delicious burritos, and overall just a great experience.
