Madeline and Nate will be exchanging vows earlier in May in a private ceremony in New York City. We look forward to celebrating our marriage with our families and friends on May 31 in our home state of Texas!
We met on the 19th of May in 2013, at an airport in Texas – both rising Baylor juniors bound for a semester abroad in the Netherlands. After a summer of travelling across Europe, we continued to build a friendship that would outlast our time in Waco. Over the next seven years, our lives took us in different directions, but we always managed to reconnect and pick up right where we left off.
Somewhere along the way, we realized that we clicked in a way we hadn’t expected. But we missed our first opportunities and knew that maintaining our friendship without the extra feelings wasn’t an option. After numerous breakdowns in communication and a messy fall out, we lost touch for almost 2 years.
When Nate moved back to the U.S. in 2022, we both realized our paths would inevitably cross again. Madeline made the first move (which wasn’t the first time!), and what started as mending our friendship in September soon became Nate moving to New York City in October and our first date in November. We spent the next year falling in love against the backdrop of our favorite city, exploring neighborhoods and cozy spots that felt like ours. We even took a trip back to the Netherlands where our friendship had first sparked, bringing everything full circle. Nate proposed on the steps of the New York Public Library on a chilly December morning – which was followed by a day filled with our favorite things. We couldn’t imagine a better place to start the next chapter of our story.
