Our Love Story ~ The Bride’ POV

On March 31, 2025, I found myself making the spur-of-the-moment decision of creating a profile on Upward. My heart had been through what felt like relentless trials and tribulations over the past two years, and even though I felt like I’d never be able to love or trust again, I figured I’d never know for sure if I didn’t put myself out there again. As I tentatively hit publish, I expected nothing more than some casual conversations to reorient me back into the dating mindset…the last thing I was expecting was to come swiping across my husband. Who I’d never met before but somehow shared mutual friends with and three years that we simultaneously lived at and attended Liberty University. From the moment we started talking, Scott Bryan Anderson was different. The respectful, lighthearted manner in which he conducted himself and his interactions with me was reflective of his genuine testimony and quickly set him apart from the rest. In our early weeks of getting to know one another and going out every weekend, he proved himself to be a man of God and of his word through both promised language and reputable action. We shared a faith built not only on belief of the Bible but similar walks with Christ and levels of experience that allowed us to be close on an emotional level I’d never before experienced. Shortly after midnight on May 10th, after a weekend spent meeting my family and celebrating my graduation from nursing school, Scott asked me to be his girlfriend. We spent the months to follow exploring a deeply intentional, God-centered relationship, with Scott handling my heart with a reverence and gentleness that slowly but surely allowed me to heal. He brought the sparkle back to my eyes and the bounce back to my step, making every moment we spent together an adventure that felt like a fairytale. Even with a three hour distance and hectic, often conflicting work schedules, it didn’t take long for the both of us to recognize the prayers being answered through one another’s presence, and all the small and subtle ways God was making our paths straight…towards inevitable convergence each other. This love was the “better thing” I’d been told again and again that God had in store for me. This was the man “beyond anything you can imagine” I’d been promised He had created me for. With the love and support of our families behind us, on September 1st, Scott asked me to marry him…in the little town between where we both live that we’d shared many last minute dates and meetups that summer. It was the sweetest and easiest “of course” of my life, even though I forgot to let him put the ring on my finger before going in for a hug. I couldn’t be more thrilled, more honored, or more blessed to marry my blue-eyed soldier. Our God is so good!

Our Love Story ~ The Groom’s POV

Our journey began earlier in 2025 with a very simple text, “Hey, I’m Scott. Nice to meet you!” Not only did she respond, but she actually seemed interested! I had no idea what I was getting into when I first met Skylar and I was completely unaware of the blessings that were beholden to me and awaiting for me down the road. Our relationship started quickly, and with much intentionality, leading to a full and prosperous Christ-centered union. Although our distance has made it hard for day to day in person growth, our many weekend dates and long hours on the phone made it just as special! I saw the beauty of the Lord shine through Skylar, highlighting areas I needed work in, praising areas I was strong in, truly helping me along with my walk, and cheering me along the way making me feel like the most cherished man in the world. I see her beautiful smile and her warm heart and am so honored to have her by my side. My love for her has only increased with every passing week, with every time we had to say goodbye, with every time we could not meet up due to conflicting work or family schedules. She has been the biggest and greatest blessing I could have asked for. She is more than what I expected or deserve! She is truly a God-fearing gem who is sweet on the inside and out. Asking her to marry me in the little town of Albemarle, NC on 01SEP25 was the best decision of my life and I am beyond thrilled that she said yes and I get to call her my bride!
