The Wedding Website of Taylor Poynor and Thomas Chesson
SPECIAL NOTE FOR EVERYONE VISITING FROM OUT OF TOWN: Places like Telluride and Ophir may SEEM close (they are, as the crow flies) but to get to Ouray from these places actually requires a 1.5-2 hour drive on highways. The roads that go directly from these towns to Ouray are technical 4wd roads that take over 4 hours for most people to travel. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND STAYING IN TELLURIDE. We DO recommend staying in Ouray directly, or neighboring Ridgway (where we live) which is only a 15 minute drive on a slightly windy highway.

Travel Note

Hwy 50 closure

If you are coming to Ouray from the south, we recommend taking either Highway 550 or 145 from Durango. Do NOT take the scenic route through Lake City/Gunnison to Ouray as the Blue Mesa Bridge is closed indefinitely. If you are afraid of heights and windy roads, you may prefer highway 145 to 550. Hwy 550 is the "red mountain pass" or "million dollar highway" -- look up pictures if you are unsure. It is the prettiest way to go and really is safe! Just follow speed limits and don't go that way if there is a big rain event!

Travel Note

FYI - Ride share is not really a thing here - Plan accordingly

Guests from out of town!! Please note that Uber/ride share is not really a thing in our area and there are limited shuttle services available. PLEASE plan accordingly! For this reason, it is either best to stay in Ouray, within walking distance of the venue, or have a designated driver back to your location. We want everyone to get home safely! You can arrange a shuttle from Montrose Regional Airport to Ouray though!

Flight

Montrose Regional Airport

Montrose is a 45 minute drive away from Ouray and is the nearest airport.

Hotel

Beaumont Hotel & Spa

505 Main Street, Ouray, CO 81427

This is where the reception will be taking place. It is a beautifully renovated historic hotel and offers the "shortest walk" to the festivities. NOTE: Children and pets are NOT allowed to stay in the hotel, though children are allowed at the reception party.

Hotel

Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs

45 3rd Avenue, Ouray, CO 81427

This more-affordable hotel offers access to their onsite hot springs and is only a 10 minute walk from the reception venue (The Beaumont). Tom and Taylor have stayed here before, and it was nice.

Hotel

Wiesbaden Hot Springs Spa & Lodgings

625 5th Street, Ouray, CO 81427

This LOVELY hotel that includes access to their underground vapor caves and hot spring pool is only a 5 minute walk from the Beaumont/Reception venue. You can also schedule spa services.

Hotel

Angel Creek Campground

361 County Road, Ouray, CO 81427

This campground is NOT in walking distance, it is a 10 minute drive from the reception venue, and is across the street from the wedding party's Airbnb. No reservations, first come first serve, $10/night. They have toilets, but no running water.

Hotel

NOTE: this is a 15 minute drive from the reception venue. Offering camping and a couple of room-based lodging options, this CLOTHING OPTIONAL hot springs is one of our favorite places! They have numerous hot spring pools, a sauna, a cold tank, and "lobster pot". Pets are only allowed in the campground, not in the rooms or the soaking areas.
