From easy walks, to techy scrambles, the area has SO many hiking options! If you're interested in specific suggestions, please reach out to Taylor or Tom. Our favorite hikes from town of Ouray: -The Perimeter trail (Moderate - 6ish mi + 1,500' gain) - A MUST, beautiful views of the alpine, canyons, town, waterfalls, and even goes through an old tunnel. -Twin Peak and Sister Peak - (Hard and steep! We prefer the steep, direct "Old Twin Peaks Trail") Drive Required to Trailhead: -Sneffels Peak - (Hard!) A special, techy 14er summit for Tom and Taylor who got to share this peak with many close friends -Blaine Basin - (Moderate) - BEAUTIFUL views, one of our favorites, and typically a much less crowded trail than neighboring "Blue Lakes trail". It does share a parking area however, so you may have to park up to a quarter mile away.
So many to choose from! The only clothing optional one is Orvis, otherwise there is Ouray Hot Springs (has a fitness center) or the Weissbaden (has cool underground vapor caves).
LOOK INTO THE ROADS YOU WILL BE DRIVING - THERE ARE A LOT OF MOUNTAIN PASSES THAT ARE ONLY PASSABLE BY 4WD VEHICLES. You can rent a jeep or schedule a jeep tour or take your own 4WD vehicle over various surrounding passes. Engineer and Blackbear Pass are recommended for EXPERTS ONLY (no stock vehicles recommended), unless you go with a touring company. Campbird Road, Imogene Pass, and Ophir Pass are accessible to most 4WD vehicles. Note, that it will take you a lot longer than you think to drive these roads. For instance Imogene typically takes folks 4-6 hours to drive ONE WAY.
