This street is the bustling heart of Key West, and a great spot to experience the city's culture and nightlife. It's filled with fantastic restaurants, lively bars, great local musicians, art galleries, theaters, and shops selling unique gifts, clothes, and hand-rolled cigars. In the evening, sip on a margarita, enjoy an al fresco meal, catch a show or join a haunted pub crawl & ghost tour of the area.

On the southern edge of Key West, Fort Taylor predates the Civil War and is a National Historic Monument housing the largest cache of Civil War armament in the world. Beyond its historical importance, the park is the southernmost state park in the continental United States. The park also boasts Key West’s favorite beach, located at the southern end of the park, which provides opportunities for picnicking, swimming, snorkeling, paddling, and fishing.

The Southernmost Point Buoy is an anchored concrete buoy in Key West, Florida, marking the southernmost point in the continental United States, the lowest latitude land of contiguous North American states. It is 18 feet above sea level. The large painted buoy was established in 1983 by the city at the corner of South Street and Whitehead Street. The southernmost point was originally marked with a small sign, before the City of Key West erected the now famous concrete buoy in 1983. The concrete buoy has overall withstood several hurricanes and is a gathering place for photographs and tourists. Cuba is roughly 90 miles south of this point in Key West, although this was not originally on the marker, but rather on a smaller sign next to marker.

It is a fusion of friends and talents that has captivated tourists and locals alike. This nightly Key West sunset party has everything any local or guest could ever hope to stumble upon. The beauty, sheer history, and pure passion of this event have been immortalized in renowned art, stories, poetry, and photography!

The Hemingway Home and Museum

The Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum in Key West, Florida is a National Historic Landmark that was home to the Nobel Prize-winning author. The house is filled with Hemingway memorabilia, is a popular tourist attraction, and is a sanctuary for his six-toed cats.

As Florida’s only presidential museum, the Harry S. Truman Little White House was the winter White House for this country's 33rd president. Truman spent 175 days during 13 vacations in the home that is filled with original furnishing and memorabilia from Truman’s days. Presidents Taft, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Carter and Clinton also used the house. Guided tours offer guests a window into the world President Truman and life of a US president.

Also thought provoking Spirits of the Passage and Key West African Cemetery exhibits to glean insights into the transatlantic slave trade and Key West's unique role in it. And don't miss our three new exhibits -- Spanish Coins in the New World, the Real Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Science of Shipwrecks. You can even take a lab tour to see how history is revealed through excavation and conservation of shipwrecks.
