Where do we start with our love story? At the beginning of course, and it started as many modern relationships do these days: on Craigslist. Only kidding, we met on Bumble as we were both bumbling and stumbling looking for our forever person. At first glance it seemed too good to be true, especially considering Rachel’s profile was unverified and her texts came through as green #IYKYK. However we gave each other an honest chance and hit it off immediately, and anyone who knows Rachel knows she is forward and her time and attention are valuable. Soon after matching, we went on our first date and there came the biggest, brightest smile I had ever seen and in awe of Rachel’s beauty and personality, I was at a loss for words and completely forgot my entire game plan. It was like no date, let alone first date, either of us had ever been on. It was very intentional and direct as we hit all of the important topics and also all of the things you're not "supposed to" talk about on a first date. The next thing we knew, hours had passed and the restaurant was closing. Not wanting the date to end, we walked from Moxie’s to the nearby Post Oak Park where we continued to talk until early the next morning. We were both aligned from the very start and both knew one thing: we couldn’t wait to see each other again. Fast forward a couple of months and we could not spend enough time together, trying to learn everything about each other, and that’s where we both quickly fell in love, some quicker than others. Shortly after, we met each other’s family and had the very typical first impression where Rachel danced in front of Nick’s entire family as part of a board game and Nick was forced to lay floors with Rachel’s brother and dad as she and her mom left for a bridal shower. Both first impressions were immediate hits. #BaptismByFire As our love continued to grow, we realized the depth and range of our love and the balance we brought to each other’s lives. One with stability and calm, and another with energy and spontaneity. Whether it be fast food to fine dining, dressed to the 9’s to morning coffee and reading the paper, or nights on the town to living room dance parties with our boys, Holden and Hobbes, our love knows no bounds, except maybe the bottom of a bowl of chips and queso. I’ve never met anyone as special, encouraging, or affirming as Rachel. She always brings excitement, fun, and of course, smiles to everything in life. And I’ve never met anyone as strong as Nick. In so many ways he is the essence of a true man: humble, wise, and of course SO handsome. We may not know where life and God will take us, whether it be holidays in Louisiana or trips to the beaches of Brazil, but we do know one thing, there’s no one else we would rather do this journey of life with than with each other. We love our love, and can’t wait to celebrate it with you on 2/22.
