I highly recommend a trip to Guatapé, one of the most colorful and charming towns near Medellín. • El Peñol Rock (La Piedra del Peñol): A massive granite rock with 740 steps leading to the top. The climb is absolutely worth it. You’ll be rewarded with breathtaking 360° views of the lakes and islands. (Tip: You don’t need to buy a tour. Tickets can be purchased directly at the base before the climb.) • Colorful Town of Guatapé: Famous for its zocalos (brightly painted murals on the lower parts of buildings), Guatapé is perfect for strolling, shopping for local crafts, and taking pictures. • Boat Ride: Explore the beautiful man-made lake and its islands. You can take a quick group boat ride or rent a private one ( for this you need to book a tour) • Food & Drinks: Enjoy fresh trout (a local specialty), Colombian arepas, or simply relax with a coffee by the water.
Comuna 13 is one of Medellín’s most colorful and inspiring neighborhoods, known for its incredible transformation through art, music, and community spirit. • Street Art & Murals: Every wall is covered with vibrant graffiti that tells powerful stories of resilience and creativity. • Outdoor Escalators: A unique feature that connects the hillside — an amazing way to see how innovation changed the neighborhood. • Live Culture: Expect to see local music, dance, and hip-hop performances, along with small shops and cafés run by residents. • Tours: While you can explore on your own, a guided tour gives extra context and stories you might otherwise miss. Tip: It’s best to visit during the daytime when the streets are lively and full of energy
El Cielo Restaurant Medellín A fine dining experience created by Michelin-starred Colombian chef Juan Manuel Barrientos. Known for its innovative tasting menus that combine gastronomy, art, and storytelling — it’s a must for food lovers. The Experience: • El Cielo offers a tasting menu of 12–15 courses (depending on the season). • Each dish is designed as a “moment” combining Colombian flavors, avant-garde techniques, and sensory elements like aromas or interactive touches. • Expect not only delicious food but also a journey that stimulates all the senses from playful bites to elegant main dishes and artistic desserts. • Plan for 2.5 to 3 hours for the full experience. Note: El Cielo also has locations in the U.S. (Miami, Washington D.C., and others), but experiencing it in Medellín offers the same world-class menu for a fraction of the cost.
