Travel

Many of you are traveling from afar for our big day and we're so grateful you are willing to do so! We've provided travel information below whether your flying, driving or taking a train. We also have two choices for hotel blocks - if you prefer to go with a different hotel that's a-ok by us. Please feel free to reach out if you need advice or have questions regarding travel.

Travel Note

L Train Down

The L Train which connects Manhattan to Williamsburg will NOT be running after 9:30 pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and will NOT be running at all this weekend. You can take the J,M & Z into Williamsburg then walk, but our best suggestion is taking an Uber/Lyft or cab. Sorry for any troubles this may cause!

Travel Note

Getting Around Williamsburg

There are tons of options to get around WIlliamsburg and Greenpoint. On the whole, both areas are super safe to walk in, but it is a large city, so avoid walking on your own at night in quiet areas, don't flash around wads of cash, and be aware of your surroundings. The L is not shutting down, but does run a little bit slowly on the weekends. It is a direct shot into Manhattan, and you can grab it from our local station, Bedford Avenue. Download the Transit App for up to date train times and updates. Finally, Uber is king in NYC! You don't need to do anything if you already have a UK, Danish, or Italian app, it will work here too. You will never have to wait more than 5 minutes for a ride, even in the early hours.

Travel Note

Driving/Parking

Although we don't advise driving into town (the public transportation is so good), there are a number of paid parking garages in Williamsburg. However these are pricey, please look up the prices in advance. There is also on street parking, but it can be an absolute nightmare to find a spot and if it snows, all bets are off! It's not worth it!

Staying at The Williamsburg Hotel

If you are staying at the Williamsburg hotel you're in the heart of the neighborhood with a 3min walk to the river and restaurants surrounding you! To get to the wedding you can walk, or take an Uber which is about 8mins away.

Travel Note

Staying at The Box House Hotel

The Box House Hotel is the location of the wedding (both ceremony and reception) there are also many places to eat within in walking distance. If you are looking to come to Williamsburg you can walk, which is 20-35mins or take an Uber which is about $8-10 and a 5-8min travel.

Train

Massachusetts to NYC by Amtrak

Amtrak goes out of Northampton (4.5hrs) and Springfield (3.5 hrs). Tickets range from $35 one-way to $120 one-way, the sooner you purchase the better!

Train

Massachusetts to NYC by MetroNorth

MetroNorth is the commuter rail out of New Haven, CT. They leave every 30minutes and during the daytime or weekend it only costs $17.75 one-way, and during rush hour it's $23.50 one-way. The train will bring you right into Grand Central Station in Manhattan. There is a parking garage at the New Haven station.

House Or Rental

Airbnb

Airbnb is a great option, especially if you feel like sharing with other friends and family you know coming to the wedding! We recommend staying in North Williamsburg or Greenpoint.

Flight

London to NYC

We recommend flying into either JFK or EWR ( Newark, NJ).

Travel Note

Flying into NYC (from elsewhere)

There are three airports we recommend flying into, JFK which is a 40min Uber/Lyft, LGA which is a 15-30min Uber/Lyft and EWR (Newark, NJ) which is a 40min-1hr Uber/Lyft.

Travel Note

Staying in Williamsburg, Brooklyn vs Manhattan

As you've probably noticed we have arranged our preferred hotel block in Williamsburg which is our neighborhood and located in Brooklyn, not Manhattan. Although Manhattan is great we much prefer Brooklyn and think you'll like it a lot too! There are great restaurants, bars, and shopping and should you choose to head to town it's a quick 5min train away! Plus, any pre-wedding activities will take place here too.
