On August 10, 2019, 2 local bars teamed up to put together a party bus that was going to Milwaukee for a Brewers baseball game for their Grateful Dead theme night! Megan saw John's long hair & tie-dye shirt, John saw Megan's long blonde hair, baseball jersey & heard her loud voice and both wondered, "who is that?!" We mingled among friends, played some cornhole while tailgaiting, threw dollar bill airplanes into the crowd below us, & snapped some pics. While trying to get "the wave" started, we ended up on the Jumbotron! It wasn't until the ride back to Green Bay where we really connected. Megan's childhood best friend's mom commented on a picture she posted, asking "is that guy's name Mississippi?" We discussed how we both knew her & shared stories. After arriving back in Green Bay, Megan tagged along with John & his friends to a local live music show, & then later to their friend's house for a bonfire & drinks, where John was smooth with his words & snuck in a kiss. We hung out every day for about 2 weeks straight & the rest was history.
On February 10, 2024, while Megan was visiting John in Kansas, he had taken her out to what she thought was a birthday/Valentine's Day dinner at Barolo Grille, where the table was decorated with rose petals. Once wrapping up dinner, John got up from his seat & got down on 1 knee. With the intent of asking "Will you give me the honor of being your husband", he instead asked "Will you be my husband?" With a good laugh, Megan said "Yes, I'll be your husband." Come to find out, a couple & their baby at a table nearby were taking pictures of the entire proposal! John had planned the whole thing & asked a friend of his, whom Megan had never met, to capture the moment!
