State beach with numerous open grass fields, tables, grills perfect for a picnic and lawn games. The beach itself is perfect for laying out, relaxing, or playing volleyball. The water is unfortunately not the cleanest so I'd steer clear unless you are feeling brave. Conveniently located across Pacific Coast Highway from the Double Tree Hotel where we have a block of rooms, there is a walking path/bridge that takes you directly there. If driving be aware you do have to pay to enter.
Another nice beach with free parking (although there are a lot of steps down to the beach). Has a great boardwalk to walk along if you don't want to get your feet sandy as well.
The Harbor has a little of everything: restaurants, coffee shops, pathways to walk along, sports shops to rent kayaks/stand up paddleboards/surfboards, whale watching tours, fishing expeditions. A quick google/yelp search will give you more details depending on what you are looking for. The annual Maritime Festival will be taking place the same weekend as our wedding, featuring tall ships from around the world and even more activity in the harbor than usual!
Hilltop park with great views of Laguna Beach and the Pacific Ocean on a clear day.
If you want everything Southern California beach town, head here. Walk along the pier to feel the breeze, smell the ocean, watch surfers and fisherman alike. Walking distance to many great restaurants in San Clemente as well.
Solid seafood restaurant within Dana Point Harbor, they have a patio with great views of the Harbor for a sunny day. Famous for their Mai-Tai's, be forewarned, they pack a punch.
Quaint little brunch/lunch cafe in historic Los Rios District in San Juan Capistrano. Great food, cool area to walk around while you wait (it gets crowded).
Iconic California burger chain if you need a quick bite or want to see what all the fuss is about.
Another beautiful park with great views of the ocean, this one is closer to Dana Point Harbor and the Double Tree if you are staying there.
