Our Story

The Wedding Website of Oneka Guneratne and Ruvin Baddevithana
Below are some moments that have defined our story together, as seen through both of our eyes. Our first meeting: While at a friend's 18th birthday party, we bumped into each other while taking a break from dancing. We spoke very briefly about mutual friends and beginning our university lives before parting ways. When Ruvin was leaving the party, Oneka's friend Ananya asked him to gatecrash a photo with the two of them and Ruvin awkwardly agreed. In that spontaneous moment, our first photo together was taken… with Ananya! Click through the images below to see our story grow over the years!
In 2016, we grew closer through study sessions; celebrating birthdays; and nights out around Sydney. Despite not dating at the time, we enjoyed creating these memories together.

In 2017, we bonded over a shared love for food and explored different restaurants around Sydney. Towards the end of 2017, we went for dinner at the Meat & Wine Co and officially started dating!

In 2018, we celebrated 21st season! Beyond our own birthday parties, we attended our friends parties and enjoyed dancing together to our favourite music - Sri Lankan Baila!

In 2019, we shared a love for all things music and theatre! We attended our first concert together (Drake); our first festival (Festival X) and our first musical (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).

In 2020, lockdown was tricky but ultimately brought us closer. We went for walks in the park; played tennis and even tried DIY haircuts! After lockdown, we celebrated our 3 year anniversary at Saké.

In 2022, we celebrated the weddings of our close friends and enjoyed attending our first cricket, NRL, and AFL games together.

In 2023, after 6 years together, Ruvin proposed! Disguised as attending a ball, Ruvin set up a beautiful display in the private dining room at ShangriLa, before organising dinner with our families.
