We're Getting Married!

Kyle and Lindsay met during their senior year of high school in 2012. While the two of them went through all of middle school and high school together, they did not formally meet until the end of their senior year, during their senior trip in Walt Disney World! Lindsay and Kyle shared mutual friends, who all hung out together in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a day towards the end of the trip. That day, Kyle tried to use a pick up line on Lindsay while she was getting a tattoo of Stitch, her favorite Disney character, on her arm. He told her if he could get any tattoo, it would be a picture of her- let's just say she wasn't completely won over by this line! When everyone returned home, Kyle reached out to Lindsay and asked her if she wanted to get together sometime. She agreed (despite the corny pick up line), and they spent their first time hanging out watching The Big Bang Theory and getting to know each other. From that moment on, the two knew they shared a connection, but were nervous to begin a relationship prior to leaving for college (Kyle was committed to Duke University in North Carolina and Lindsay was committed to Towson University in Maryland.) For a few months, Kyle and Lindsay remained friends, but eventually decided they cared so much for each other that beginning a relationship just felt right! They spent the whole summer together before leaving for college, enjoying each day for what it was. People thought they were crazy starting a relationship right before heading in different directions, but the journey was worth it!

Despite the odds, Kyle and Lindsay tackled the ups and downs of a long distance college relationship for four and a half years. Kyle would drive seven hours to Towson just to get a weekend in with Lindsay, while Lindsay flew a total of fourteen times to Duke throughout their undergraduate careers! They supported each other through multiple all nighters and exam breakdowns, and rooted for each other through all of their successes, even though they were miles apart. It was not always easy, but the two had each other for the bumps along the way. After they graduated from college, they moved in together to begin their lives in the same state! Lindsay commuted to graduate school at La Salle University while Kyle worked full time and focused on his MBA. Even though they were busy, they loved being in the same place together after being apart for so long. After Lindsay graduated with her master’s degree, they decided to move to Jersey City and bring their careers to New York City- and Kyle decided it was time to take the next step in their relationship!

Kyle had been planning on proposing to Lindsay since May; he spent months trying to figure out how he was going to get all of their family members and friends in one place without anyone knowing what was about to happen (except for his dad and Lindsay's dad- they were in on the whole plan!) On September 21st, 2019, Kyle and Lindsay drove to their hometown to participate in the Gypsy Rose Animal Foundation 5k, a race his family put together each year to support his parent’s animal foundation. They both ran the race, even though Lindsay forgot Kyle’s race shoes that day and Kyle had to run in whatever he could find! They then waited with a bunch of their friends and family members for the awards ceremony to take place. Kyle had gotten second place overall and placed right behind his brother, Brett. Kyle went up to receive his medal, and Brett was called up right after him to receive his. After they gave Brett his medal, Brett took the microphone and said, “I would like to thank Lindsay Kaffl for forgetting my brother’s shoes; without her none of this would be possible!” (Nothing like a bit of brotherly competition, right?!) Everyone laughed, and they then called Lindsay up to take pictures with Kyle and his brother. Brett eventually stepped away, and they began taking pictures of Kyle and Lindsay. All of a sudden, Kyle turned to Lindsay and said, “Seven years later...” and got down on one knee! Lindsay was so shocked she immediately started crying, and eventually got the word “YES!” out. Seeing and hearing everyone's excited reaction made the moment so special. After the race, they went back to the Milden family home for an engagement celebration with family and friends. It was truly the perfect day! After eight years together, Lindsay and Kyle are ecstatic to begin this journey together and plan the wedding of their dreams! They are SO excited to celebrate with their loved ones on July 10th, 2021, when they can officially call themselves husband and wife!
