FAQs

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Welcome Party — Cocktail Attire We're so excited to welcome you to the start of our celebration! We ask that guests arrive in cocktail attire for the evening. Gentlemen, a blazer or sport coat with dress trousers is perfect — a full suit is welcome but not required, and a tie is optional. Ladies, a knee-to-midi length cocktail dress or elegant dressy separates would be absolutely lovely. The Night Before Dinner — Semi-Formal Attire As we gather the evening before the wedding, we'd love for guests to dress in semi-formal attire befitting a special dinner celebration. Gentlemen, a suit with a collared dress shirt is ideal for this occasion. Ladies, a midi-length cocktail dress, an elegant wrap dress, or a set of polished separates would be perfect. Wedding Ceremony & Reception — Black Tie Optional For our wedding day, we kindly request black tie optional attire. Gentlemen, a tuxedo is strongly preferred, though a well-tailored suit with a dress shirt and tie is also appropriate. Ladies, a floor-length evening gown or formal ball gown is the look we're envisioning — this is a wonderful opportunity to truly dress to the nines! Au Revoir Brunch — Casual After a night of celebrating, join us for a relaxed farewell brunch before you head home. Attire is casual and comfortable — think breezy dresses, sweaters, blouses, or a light button-down. Simply come as you are and enjoy one last leisurely morning together. Please note: Several events will be held outdoors on grass and gravel, so we kindly ask that guests keep this in mind when selecting footwear. Stilettos and narrow heels are not recommended — block heels, wedges, or flats are an equally stylish and practical alternative.

Question

Are the events indoor or outdoors?

Answer

Almost all of the weekend’s events will be held outdoors, so come prepared to celebrate under the French sky. The welcome party will take place beneath the chestnut groves, the night-before dinner will be hosted on the château terrace, and both the ceremony and reception will be outdoors (weather permitting). After dinner, we’ll head inside the château for dancing. The Au Revoir brunch will be poolside for a sunny, relaxed sendoff. You can find full details for each event on the Itinerary page of this site!

Question

What’s the weather like in France that time of year?

Answer

September is peak season in the Loire Valley—and one of the most beautiful times to visit. Expect sunny days and crisp evenings, with average highs between 66°F and 73°F. Pack light layers for the daytime and something warmer for the evenings—you’ll want to be comfortable from vineyard strolls to late-night dancing.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We adore your little ones, but our wedding will be an adults-only celebration so everyone can relax and fully enjoy the weekend. We truly appreciate you making arrangements in advance and joining us for a child-free getaway.

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

We’d love to include everyone, but due to the size of the venue and our guest list, we’re only able to accommodate the guests listed on your invitation. If your invitation includes a plus one, you’ll see their name there or you’ll have the option to add them when you RSVP. Thank you so much for understanding.

Question

Will dietary restrictions be accommodated for the wedding meal?

Answer

Yes. When you RSVP, please include any dietary restrictions or allergies. We’ll share them with the chef and ensure your wedding meal is thoughtfully accommodated.

Question

What should we expect for food and drinks?

Answer

We’re so excited to treat you to incredible French cuisine all weekend long! Each morning, breakfast will be served at Château de Jalesnes during set hours, and a light lunch will also be available daily at the château. In the evenings, we’ve planned special hosted dinners that we ask all guests to attend—these are the main events of the weekend and will be some of our favorite moments shared together. All meals and celebrations are hosted by both families. You’ll also find a stocked common area in the château’s salon with snacks and drinks available at any time. And for even more flexibility, most suites include a kitchen, so you’re welcome to cook, store groceries, or explore restaurants in nearby villages during your free time.

Question

Can we choose not to stay in the accommodations you’ve arranged?

Answer

Because the château is in a rural area with very limited nearby lodging, we’ve organized accommodations to make things as seamless as possible for all guests. Whether you're staying at Château de Jalesnes, the sister château next door, or the hotel in town, we’ve reserved beautiful options that are all nearby and coordinated for the weekend. We’d love for everyone to stick with the accommodations we've arranged—but if you prefer to book something on your own, that’s totally okay. Just let Kristen know so we can plan accordingly. You can find more details in the Travel & Accommodation section of the website.

Question

Why France?

Answer

Why not, tbh.

Question

What if I have a question that’s not answered here?
