How We Met

Many of you know the story of how we met. But for those who don't, it started with "my home" commented on a photo on my facebook. A fellow employee who had requested me a few days before...who knew. We started talking about Michigan and he mentioned how delicious the fudge on Mackinac Island was! And though my plans to go were foiled, I still brought home fudge and made sure to leave some for Kris to sample at work. A few days later we officially met at a work party. I walked by focused and looking for the guy I was seeing and I heard, " Hey, you're Shelby?" "No." I stated before sputtering to a stop and turning to him. "Wait, yes that's me." I said smiling, immediately recognizing my Michigan pal. He had his sweet youngster with him and I chatted with them both for a few minutes before excusing myself. But that day began a very good friendship. The first time we hung out with another good friend, we went to Punchbowl Social. We drank and went bowling and I sang along to oldies all the way back home. We then went to a Cigar Bar with the same cool friend another weekend. The following day we traveled to Pike's Peak to meet up with another one of my friends. We went to a a baseball game and had a blast watching the Rockies kick my dad's team's ass. Another night we did our own wine and paint night at home. He is the one who got me into painting. In September my mom visited to celebrate my birthday early. While she was out, she met Kris, and he ended up spending every evening with us after work. I rode my bicycle while he skated next to me through my old neighborhood. I think reading the letter my mom wrote to me after she left is when I really realized I had feelings for him. I can't say when exactly it happened, but suddenly I missed him all the time and always wanted to tell my news to him first. He was my person. The love of my life. My Soulmate. <3

How He Popped The Question

10-25-2019 Montreal, Canada

We absolutely love to travel, and our anniversary was no different. We knew we wanted pretty fall leaves, somewhere new for both of us, and Kris wanted to go to Canada. After about a month of research we finally decided on Vermont. I found the perfect, cute little place called Rabbit Hill Inn which was meant for a romantic weekend getaway, and also close enough that we could drive and visit Canada! We arrived on my birthday, and the following day we went for our day trip to Montreal. We took our time making our way, and stopped to eat some delicious italian food for lunch. We continued our journey and made our way through the border and found our way to Mount Royal. The mountain that Montreal got its name from, the top showed a splendid view of the city. We drove to the top and walked to the balcony where crowds of people looked at the views. Kris wanted to walk to find a different view, and I followed having no idea what was on his mind. He brought us down a path that ended with its own beautiful view of the city, framed by beautifully colored leaves. Kris looked at me and told me that he saw me in his future, and I agreed. It was then that he knelt down to one knee and asked me to be his wife. I gleefully said yes as I pulled him into my arms. This was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with.
