After 10 plus years of dating, I finally felt like it was time to propose. When my grandmom passed away in October 2019, she left me her engagement ring and wedding band set. After talking it over with my family, I decided that I wanted to use her diamonds in Rachel's engagement ring. I felt like that was something she would've wanted me to do since she loved Rachel so much. With input from my mom and sister, we got the ring made to be unique to Rachel and sentimental to both of us. Over the years my Mom-Mom, Pop-Pop, Grandmom, and Grandpop taught me the importance of family. After asking Rachel's mom for her daughter's hand in marriage, I decided Christmas day was the best time to propose since my whole family would be there. As my family eagerly awaited the news, we went downstairs to take pictures in front of my grandparent's Christmas tree. To Rachel's surprise, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. Of course she said YES!
