I made the first move—I swiped right on the dating app, BLK. We actually matched on a Friday, and she was really receptive and friendly. I remember her telling me about a standing motorized fan she had just gotten that was difficult to assemble, and I was already suggesting coming over sometime to help fix it. On the Sunday of that same weekend, I shared my church outfit with her, and we started texting very often after that
Back then, I wasn’t mobile, but I was really excited to meet her. I took an Uber to Guelph, where she stayed, to celebrate her birthday. She had just turned 26 that month. I took her to The Keg, a fancy restaurant, but I hadn’t dressed up for the occasion—I wore a casual cap. It was an interesting and memorable experience. She ordered shrimp and a small steak because of her love for shrimp, while I had chicken with peppers and tomato. I wasn’t expecting so much pepper and tomato in my order—it was like my plate was spicing things up before the evening even had a chance to! We enjoyed some dessert and chatted for a long time. After dinner, I walked her home before heading back to Hamilton
My favorite date memory was our date night at Skylon Tower during our trip to Niagara Falls in 2023. It was an amazing Christmas vacation we had planned that year, and we ended it with a dressed-up date at one of Niagara’s iconic spots. We dressed fancy, took lots of pictures, shared laughs, and made great jokes. It was at that moment I realized this was going to be a forever relationship. After our meal, we headed up to the viewing deck. Although it was cold and a bit scary, the view was breathtaking and made the night unforgettable
I said 'I love you' first, and it was after a family holiday with my mum and two sisters. I had missed seeing her for a long time and had been holding onto the thought for quite a while. I didn’t say it verbally—I texted it and told her she didn’t have to say it back. A few days later, she said it back. I guess she just needed a little time to fully commit to me, and it made it more special.
She’s the more adventurous and daring one, always eager to try new things. She convinced me to go to Wonderland, where I ended up on some breathtaking rides. We also went tree trekking, where we had to harness ourselves to lines at dizzying heights. She loves to dive into activities, and I guess I’m along for the ride now!
I admire her courage and boldness in embracing challenges and trying new things. Her life experiences have played a big part in shaping this, and I find it truly inspiring. What I also love is her ability to stay calm and face things head-on, no matter what comes her way. It’s such an endearing quality.
I read a book by Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo called 7 Qualities Wise Men Want, and from that moment, I just knew she was the one for me. But most importantly, I prayed about it, and I felt an incredible sense of peace and rest in my heart, confirming that God was guiding me.
