Despite their friends' earnest efforts to set them up, Olivia and Louis missed the chance to meet each over and over again. The stars finally aligned when those same friends hosted a New Year Eve's pajama party and Louis saw Olivia's name on the guest list the day of the party. He cancelled the other plans he had already made, giving away his concert ticket to Addison, and made the obvious choice to borrow a fuzzy pink poncho from his younger sister to wear. Olivia, on her end, had caught a cold while at her waitressing shift that day and was already starting to lose her voice. She was deliberating all evening whether she could make it out to ring in the new decade, and eventually decided it was only happening because she could be in pajamas. Louis set Olivia's heart on fire from the moment she heard him coming to open the door to the crowded one bedroom apartment. No one was answering the door, and she was standing alone in the hallway with arms full of wine bottles when she heard Louis loudly yelling back into the party, "why am I getting the door? I don't know all of your friends." When the door finally swang open, Olivia blew past him, because she was instantly annoyed that anyone had the nerve to not know who she was, and at the stalling to let her inside. Olivia set Louis' mind racing from the moment he saw her storming past him and realized the girl he came for was somehow already pissed at him. Very uncharacteristically, Louis went for it anyways, and very uncharacteristically, Olivia softened up for him right away. He enthusiastically asked her out, and she said yes to a date every time he asked that night. They spent almost a week messaging each other as Olivia's cold turned worse and she lost her voice completely. When she felt just recovered enough, he picked her up after her Monday night closing shift to get late night boba, and apart from Olivia going into work, they didn't leave each other's sides the rest of that week. He was leaving to go back to WSU early Sunday morning, but asked Olivia to be his girlfriend anyway late Saturday night before he drove back to Pullman. After finally finding their way to each other on New Year's Eve, and falling together so easily, they were convinced that 2020 would be their year. It quickly became apparent that it was no one's year, but it was at least infinitely better for having had each other.
