Getting to Catalina Island takes about one hour via ferry. Two companies offer boat transportation from Long Beach, San Pedro, Dana Point, and Newport Beach. Please utilize groupon to search for deals on ferry tickets prior to booking! I will provide step by step directions for how to do so on the FAQs page.
We would recommend taking the Catalina Flyer from Newport as there is available parking in the Balboa Pier parking lot for all day and multi day parking. Rates are typically between $15 and $30 per 24-hour period. The Balboa Pier lot is located at 1 Balboa Pier, Newport Beach, CA 92661. For Uber and Lyft use the address 400 Main Street, Newport Beach, CA 92661.
As far as getting around Catalina, it is easily accessible on foot but golf carts are also available for rent on an hourly or daily basis. There is also public transportation available in Avalon through COAST, City of Avalon Seaside Transit, with fares starting at $2 per rider.
