4PM Friday afternoon- Arrive in Charleston, check in to your stay and get freshened up to start exploring! Since most of our events will be centered around this area, this is a good place to help orient yourself.

4:30PM Friday- Meeting street is a beautiful street to get you acquainted with the city. Walk south down this street for a quick snack. Olivia starts every vacation by getting ice cream, so treat yourself after a day of travel with a sweet bite. Is anything better than ice cream and pie? This place has vegan and non-dairy options too!

5PM Friday- A great first stop to appreciate the history, tradition, and crafty side of the city is the Historic market. This is one of North America’s oldest public markets. We love the sweet grass baskets and roses that they make here. They are a beautiful souvenir to take home.

6PM Friday- Walk back on Market Street and turn left on King Street where you will find Charleston’s main area of shops, galleries, and fun restaurants. Renee’s favorite is 167 Raw. This will be a perfect place to grab an appetizer if you can’t wait to eat at the welcome party, or if you want to make sure you try some of Charleston’s most famous foods. Try some fresh oysters or the peel and eat shrimp that will pair perfectly with a nice glass of wine. After this head back up King street towards Marion square making frequent stops in the cute shops along the way.

10PM Friday- After the Welcome party, treat yourself to a night cap at one of the best bars in Charleston, housed in a historic brick building and boasting an impressive whiskey selection. But, don’t go too hard on the first night, we have lots of fun activities still to come!

10AM Saturday- Stroll by the water and enjoy this beautiful park. Count all of the pineapples you see in this part of southern Charleston. This is a symbol of the city that embodies the hospitality that Charleston is known for.

10:30AM Saturday- No trip to Charleston is complete without a picture in front of the colorful houses on Rainbow Row. These Georgian style houses date from 1748 to 1845 and demonstrate the historic architecture that is preserved in Charleston

11AM Saturday - Keep walking down the harbor from Rainbow Row to White Point Gardens, where you will be at the very bottom the the Charleston Peninsula. On a clear day, you will be able to see Ft. Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired.

11:30AM Saturday- Start your walk around the historic homes South of Broad with one of the most famous ones. This house was built in 1808 by a rich Yankee. If the beautifully restored interiors are not enough, the spiral staircase will have you swooning.

12PM Saturday- After walking around the historic neighborhood, grab a nice lunch at this quaint historic market with a cafe that serves custom sandwiches and drinks.

1PM Saturday- Get a preview of the day ahead by touring the beautiful “gateway walk” that starts at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Clifford Street, the location of the ceremony. This garden and church walk was inspired by a trip to Paris in 1930 that the garden club president of Charleston took. This walk takes you by notable stops like the Gibbes Art Museum.

1:30PM Saturday- The Gateway walk will bring you out by the Old Slave Mart Museum. This is a great place to escape some of the heat of the day by taking in some of the darker parts of the history that created Charleston. The former slave auction building is now used as one of the city’s many great museums the city has to offer. Get in a Uber to go back to your hotel and freshen up before the wedding, be sure to be at the church by 4:15.

9:30AM Sunday- Nothing make a hard morning feel better than biscuits. Get a great breakfast and coffee to make yourself feel better. Then walk over to the Dewberry to get on the 11AM shuttle to go to the Olsen’s house for a beach day!
