On the first day of college at Virginia Tech, I decided it would be a great idea to wear an Ole Miss t-shirt to class. Jason happened to be in the class and noticed me. He thought, who would do that? I was only in the class for a day as I had a credit transfer late from high school. We saw each other in passing and in large lecture hall classes since we were in the same major. It wasn't until our junior year of college that we connected on a dating app. We also were in a small 25-person class together at that time. This is where our love story begins! We began spending practically every day together. It wasn't until October 10, 2017, when I told Jason he needed to ask me to be his girlfriend (we had been together for close to 9 months at this point). He made the very smart decision and asked me to be his girlfriend in front of Lane Stadium. We had a wonderful senior year together, enjoying Virginia Tech sporting events and the bars in downtown Blacksburg. After graduation, Jason moved to Atlanta, GA and I moved to Charlotte, NC for a six-month training. We spent almost every weekend together. After my training in Charlotte, I moved to Raleigh. Jason and I couldn't see each other as often due to the distance and our work schedules. Our visits together were so fun, but always ended in tears as we hated to say goodbye to one another. After a year of distance, we were ready to be in the same city. Jason got a new job and moved to Raleigh. We lived in Raleigh until Covid hit the U.S. Our companies sent us home to work remotely and I thought it would be a great idea to go to Lynchburg, VA to spend a week or two with our dog and my family. What started as a short stay turned into over a year and a half of living with my parents out of a suitcase (thanks Mom and Dad). Jason was the biggest trooper! We were both given permission to work fully remote, so we made the decision to buy a home in Lynchburg. We battled a crazy housing market but ended up with the perfect home. We've been so fortunate to be able to travel to many bucket list destinations since settling down together. Jason popped the question on August 27, 2022, in Blacksburg, VA at the Hahn Horticulture Garden. It was the greatest day surrounded by family and friends. We are so excited to start our lives together as husband and wife!
