Visiting DC

It's a beautiful day in Washington, DC! We love it here and hope you do too! If you have time to explore over the weekend, here are a few of our favorite spots and things to do in the district.

~ Things to Do ~

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

10th St. & Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560

Liv's favorite Smithsonian.

Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum

650 Jefferson Drive Southwest, Washington, DC 20004

Jake's favorite Smithsonian.

National Gallery of Art

Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20565

Just in case you don't get enough art on the day of...

Smithsonian National Zoological Park

3001 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

It's the ZOO, c'mon. If you ask nicely, one of Olivia's sisters may show you a picture of them when they were little, but only if you're nice. The zoo (like all Smithsonian museums) is free to visit, but does require reservations. See their website to secure your slot.

Lincoln Memorial

2 Lincoln Memorial Circle Northwest, Washington, DC 20002

Pay a visit to the benefactor of their relationship - Abe (idk it's a Gettysburg College joke).

Georgetown

Washington, DC 20007

A classic DC neighborhood with good streets for strolling. Shop, drink, snack, walk by the water, look at pretty houses - it's all an option in Georgetown. A lovely way to spend your Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

~ Things to Eat ~

Jackpot

726 7th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001

Jake and Liv's favorite dive bar around these parts. Directly across from Capital One Arena, you're going allllll the way down to the basement level. Jackpot is perfect for all your classics and a side of free popcorn (just ask at the bar). Looking for more space or perhaps an activity? Two doors down (still in the basement) you have Rocket Bar which Jake and Liv like less, but it does have games...

Andy's Pizza Foggy Bottom

2000 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20006

"Liv, I'm outside Andy's." The couple's favorite DC pizza spot with locations all over the city (tagged the closest to the Tempo Hotel - just for you!) - perfect for a whole pie (for the ambitious) or just a 2 slice and Diet Coke special. Liv's favorite is the mushroom and onion while Jake opts for the meat lovers.

Old Ebbitt Grill

675 15th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005

It IS a DC institution. Lots of space to hang out at their several bars (yes, they have TVs for March Madness viewing) and grab classic American style fair or go for their signature oysters. If you're looking to sit down, a reservation is a good idea. Don't forget to grab a matchbook on your way out.

Willing to travel uptown?

Liv & Jake have more recs!!!! The list here is centralized by where the festivities are happening, but oh BOY do we have more ideas. Let us know your plans for the day and we'll help you find something :]]]]]]]]
