This story will never get old for me so I am excited to share it with those who don't know. We met on September 8, 2018 at a country concert at Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh! Luke Combs opened the show (crazy right?!) and Jason Aldean was headlining. I had just started my freshman year at UNC Chapel Hill and my suitemates, Hallie and Hailey, had been planning to go to the concert since before school started. The concert date was set for August and since I hadn't known them for long, I declined the invite and told them to have fun! They met some of Hallie's hometown friends while tailgating and the concert ended up getting rained out and postponed until the next month. Luckily for me, us girls grew closer and they convinced me to purchase a ticket for the new concert date since so many people were now selling them at discounted prices. Fast forward to September 8th—we tailgated again with Hallie’s friends from home and she had already mentioned to Hailey and I that her newly single friend Colton would be there if either of us were interested. I originally wasn’t looking to get into a relationship, but after seeing him at the tailgate I quickly changed my mind! He was tan, good looking, and most importantly: TALL! To my surprise, my concert ticket wouldn’t scan at the gate. I nearly called an Uber back to campus, but thankfully the lady at customer service helped me get a new ticket and I was on my way in! Shortly after Luke Combs started singing, Colton made his way over to introduce himself and ask me to dance. We spent the rest of the concert together, but when it ended, we went our separate ways without him asking for my number. On the way back to Chapel Hill, Hallie suddenly remembered she’d left one of her school binders in a friend’s car. We arranged to meet them at a gas station, and to my surprise, Colton was in the car! He *finally* asked for my number while we were there and the rest is history. I’ll forever be grateful for that rain delay, Hallie Rouse, and God’s plan that brought us together.
