Oliver and I met on Hinge in the late Summer of 2018. I had relocated to D.C. in March of that year and Oliver had just moved that Summer. We got to chatting about farmer's markets and being a seasoned resident of four months, I recommended checking out Eastern Market. He was already familiar and lived just two metro stops away! We ended up at Eastern Market for our first date - for which I was late because I was dog sitting for a friend across town. We enjoyed soft shell crab sandwiches at the lunch counter and I knew the date was off to a good start when we agreed Ketchup doesn't belong on fries #TEAMMAYO. Four hours and two scoops of gelato later, I was smitten (even though he doesn't have the actual British accent I was expecting)! Eastern Market became a regular weekend stop for us as we explored the city together, one restaurant at a time!
