Colorado Springs Airport (COS) & Denver International Airport (DIA)

COS is the closest airport to Buena Vista, and is roughly a 2-hour drive. It's a small airport and easy to navigate. DIA is the largest airport option with a lot of flights each day, and is about 2.5 hours from Buena Vista.

Getting to Buena Vista

Buena Vista is 2 hours from the closest airport. The easiest way to get to and from the airport is to rent a car. There are also no reliable Uber/taxi services in town. If you'd like to try and carpool with others, please fill out this ride board: https://shorturl.at/JANqS . If you do not want to rent a car, there is a bus from Denver's Union Station to Buena Vista. You can find information about that on the Bustang website (https://ridebustang.com/bus-lines-routes-maps/), under Outrider Routes and Maps. The route is Crested Butte - Denver. If you plan to take the bus into town, please let us know and we will make sure someone can pick you up from the bus stop and take you to your lodging. Many folks travel to the mountains during the weekend, so if you plan to drive in on Friday, we suggest you leave before noon to avoid traffic. For those flying out Sunday, we suggest you plan for the drive to the airport to take up to an extra hour.

Stay with us at Deer Valley Ranch!

We have reserved all of the publicly available cabins and lodge rooms at Deer Valley Ranch to host our wedding weekend. The property is located at the base of the Chalk Cliffs and Mount Princeton along the Colorado Trail with great views of the Collegiate Peaks mountain range. The cabins are two, three, or four bedroom vacation homes and ideal for groups of 6-8 people. Each cabin has a fully-equipped kitchen, living room/dining area, fireplace, and deck with a view. The lodge rooms are individual rooms on the second floor of the historic lodge fit for 1-4 people. Every room offers a private retreat with the added benefit of close proximity to other friends and guests! The wedding festivities will take place on the first floor of the lodge. We are managing all of the cabin and lodge reservations directly, and they will be first come first serve. As of April 17th, we only have a few spots left. So please let us know if you want to stay, there is still some room! Additionally, tent and RV camping are allowed on the property for a small nightly fee. There are not any hook-ups for RVs or facilities on the campgrounds. Because of DVR's remote location, cell service around the property is limited. However, all of the cabins and lodge rooms have wifi. If you'd like to stay at Deer Valley Ranch (which we'd love!), please reply yes or no to the question included in the RSVP. Lodging will be for Friday and Saturday night. The expected total cost per person for the weekend is $260. The stay includes breakfast and lunch on Saturday, as well as beverages throughout the day!

Things to know about Buena Vista

Mid-August is still peak summer for tourists, so it will be very busy in town—we recommend booking your lodging as soon as possible. We have reserved all of the available cabins at Deer Valley Ranch (see above), as well as few nearby Airbnb's, and would love for you to stay there with us. Buena Vista is at ~8,000 feet and August weather is typically warm/mild during the day, with an almost guaranteed monsoonal rainstorm around 3pm, and cool at night. Make sure to drink plenty of water, bring sun protection, and pack warm clothing for the evening.

Here are some other lodging options: -The Surf Hotel (luxury hotel in downtown Buena Vista; very popular so availability will be limited!) -Slackwater Inn (newly renovated motel on the Arkansas River) -Best Western Vista in (close to downtown Buena Vista) -Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort (just down the road from DVR, with natural geothermal hot springs available year round) -Dispersed camping (there is plenty of free dispersed camping around Nathrop; let us know if you'd like suggestions on where to camp) We also recommend checking out Airbnb for larger groups. August is very busy in the Arkansas River Valley, so we recommend booking your lodging as soon as possible. To stay close to DVR, search for Airbnb's in Nathrop. To stay in town, search for Airbnb's in Buena Vista. There are also great lodging options in Salida, which is about 30 minutes away.
