FAQs

Question

What date should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than April 1st. If you would like to stay with us at Deer Valley Ranch, please let us know ASAP.

Question

How do I get to Buena Vista?

Answer

The Travel & Lodging tab has information about about how to get to town from both Colorado Springs and Denver.

Question

What is the easiest way to get to and from your welcome dinner at the Lariat?

Answer

The Lariat is in downtown Buena Vista on Main St. We will provide a shuttle to and from the Lariat for everyone who is staying with us at Deer Valley Ranch. If you do not plan to stay at Deer Valley Ranch, please plan on walking/driving to the Lariat. There are two free downtown parking lots on both sides of the railroad one block east of the Lariat.

Question

What is the dress code for your welcome dinner?

Answer

Denim! We will be at the local honky tonk in a small western Colorado town, so you can't go wrong with jeans, pearl snap shirt, and cowboy boots. Give us your best impression of a honky-tonker. Check out the Gallery for outfit inspiration.

Question

I am staying at Deer Valley Ranch, how do I pay for my room?

Answer

We are coordinating all of the lodging at Deer Valley Ranch, and will send out instructions on how to pay for your stay closer to the date of the wedding. More information about pricing is available on the Travel & Lodging tab.

Question

What time can I check into my room at Deer Valley Ranch?

Answer

For those staying at DVR, check-in is 3pm on Friday. Check out is 10am on Sunday.

Question

Have you reserved blocks of rooms at one or more hotels?

Answer

No, we have not reserved room blocks at any hotels in Buena Vista or Salida. We have reserved all of the available lodging onsite at Deer Valley Ranch, and welcome you to stay with us there! Please email us if you would like to stay onsite at DVR. For recommendations on other places to stay, check out the Travel & Lodging tab.

Question

What is the easiest way to get to and from your wedding venue?

Answer

We hope to house most of our guests onsite. If you are not staying onsite, the best option is to drive to Deer Valley Ranch. There will be a parking area available for those driving. We will not be shuttling people to and from DVR on the wedding day. There is not reliable taxi or Uber/Lyft service in the area.

Question

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our ceremony will be outdoors at the base of the Chalk Cliffs. The dinner and reception will be indoors at the Deer Valley Ranch Historic Lodge and Centennial Hall buildings.

Question

What is the dress code for your wedding?

Answer

Semi-formal. We don't want you showing up in a tux and ball gown at a dude ranch, but a suit and cocktail dress would be perfect! Spice it up with western accessories to fit our theme - a bolo tie, cowboy hat, turquoise and beaded jewelry, and of course cowboy boots. Men's dress denim only on wedding day, all other denim is for the night before. Check out the Gallery for outfit inspiration.

Question

Am I allowed to bring a plus one?

Answer

If you have received a plus one on your invite, then you are welcome to bring a plus one. If you have not, then you cannot bring a plus one.

Question

Am I allowed to bring my children?

Answer

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate guests under age 18 for our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. Children are welcome at Deer Valley Ranch on Saturday for activities, but we ask they leave the property by 3pm before the ceremony starts. We appreciate your understanding.

Question

Will there be meal options for guests with dietary restrictions or allergies?

Answer

We will have vegetarian and gluten-free food available at the cocktail hour and for dinner. We are serving one, family style meal for dinner. Please let us know if you have a food allergy we need to be aware of.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes!

Question

Am I allowed to take photos at your wedding and share them on social media?

Answer

We ask that you do not share photos of our ceremony. We ask that you either leave your phone in your cabin for the ceremony, or put it away during that time. Phones and photo sharing are welcome throughout the rest of the night.

Question

Do I need to buy you a gift?

Answer

While we certainly appreciate anyone who wants to give us a gift, we do not expect it! Joining us for our special day is enough.
