Things To Do
You probably know the must-do’s of a visit to San Francisco: ride a cable car, visit Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf, see the “painted ladies” Victorian homes at Alamo Park, and take a tour of Alcatraz Island.
Tripadvisor and Lonely Planet are good sites to find more tours. There are bike tours of SF, ferry rides around bay & tours to Sausalito.
For nature lovers there are tours to the giant redwoods in Muir Woods.
Foodies: don’t miss the Ferry Building Marketplace!
We live in the East Bay, where there’s also much to do. Jack London Square in Oakland has good restaurants and nice shops. You can even rent a kayak there and go for a paddle on the estuary! World War II battleships were built at the Kaiser Shipyards in Richmond, where you can visit the Rosie the Riveter Museum for some lesser-known US history. Foodies: have a meal at the iconic Chez Panisse restaurant (upstairs has the better menu).
