How we Met

In 2019, Vincent went on Facebook Marketplace hoping to find a plot of land for sale in Nigeria. He heard somewhere that Chinese are marrying Nigerians to bypass the law preventing foreigners from owning land. If you know Vincent, you know that he is very pro China world domination and he only really pays attention to things that serve his interest. Anyway, his search on Facebook Marketplace was fruitless and he switched over to the Facebook dating app. His profile was straight to the point on what he was looking for and he included pictures of the things that he loves the most - motorcycles, cars, family, music, and food. In January 2020, Yinka created a Facebook dating profile after deleting all other dating apps. She planned a vision board party at a winery in Northern California for a few friends. Her vision board emphasized love and traveling. If you know Yinka, you know that she is annoyingly intentional and purposeful. The vision board wasn't enough. She wrote down the qualities she was looking for, prayed over it, and bookmarked her bible at Matthew 17:20. A week later while on a work trip, she came across a profile of a guy named Vincent. He had messy hair and an intense stare. He looked just as fed up as she felt with dating. His profile began with stating that he was not looking for a polyamorous relationship and ended with proclaiming his love for Christ. She said hello and the rest is....... On February 12, 2020 they met for a casual date at a yogurt shop. The date was filled with laughter and surprisingly, neither actually ordered yogurt. When the yogurt shop closed, they went next door to the taco shop. Still, neither ordered food. They talked for hours about everything from work to family and competed on who could tell the most inappropriate joke/story, he won! For the third date, they went to church together. Afterward, Vincent gifted Olayinka a mustard seed with a reference to Matthew 17:20. She was speechless (a rare thing) and could not immediately share with him the significance of the gift or the date. In that moment, she was certain that she had found her person. That little seed will root in front of family and friends on 10.22.2022.
