Expressway Bus 30/X30Expressway Bus 30/X30

Expressway buses runs a very quick and reliable service from Dublin City Center and Dublin Airport to Donegal. The journey takes about 3- 4 hours depending on where you leave from and weather it is express. The express and local alternate of every journey check the schedule on the website above. The bus runs throughout the day 6:30AM-12:30AM, so feel free to take the bus that best suites your schedule. Tickets are €20-40, and can be purchased online or on the bus. Currently you are not able to purchase the tickets for July but check back in a couple months and you should be able to purchase the tickets. If you choose to purchase the tickets on the bus they will accept Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay as well as cash. Note to receive the student discount you must have a Irish Student transit card. If you are traveling from the airport the stop is conveniently located outside the airport, simply follow the signs for Coach buses and look for the Expressway buses (Zone 12 Stop 8). If you are leaving from Dublin city center you will be looking for the Busaras, which is the main bus station in Dublin. It is conveniently located in the center of the city and easy to get to from anywhere in Dublin. If you are ever lost always feel free to ask, most people in Dublin are quite happy to help Your destination stop will be Abbey Hotel in Donegal. If you are staying in Donegal town it will be a quick walk to anywhere you may be staying. If you are staying at Lough Eske you will need a taxi. There is a taxi line across the street from the bus stop that will be able to take you to Lough Eske. The drive from Donegal to Lough Eskse is only 10 minutes.

Rental Car

Rental Car GuidenceRental Car Guidence

Depending on your comfort driving you may consider renting a car, however there are several things to keep in mind if you want to rent a car. 1) You will be driving on the left side of the road: You must be constantly aware that you need to travel on the left side of the road. A handy trick to remember this is that wherever you drive your body will be closest to the center line. 2) Roads are much tighter than the states: Even major 2 lane roads in Ireland may only be 8.5 feet wide with no shoulder, while the equivalent here would be 11-12 feet in addition to the shoulder. Local roads are often only one car wide and will require you to pull into a passing siding to let cars pass each other. Always be courteous and pull over at the first available opportunity. 3) Speed cameras are everywhere: Police (known as the Gardaí) in Ireland can put speed cameras on any road and regularly move them around. Do not speed. 4) Most cars have manual transmission unless otherwise stated: Although it is possible to get automatic cars, you must specifically request an automatic transmission when booking, or else you will be provided a manual. In addition, an automatic can often double the price of the rental. If you rent from a location other than the airport, you may find it difficult to rent an automatic at all. 5) Your credit card rental insurance does not cover Ireland: Unless you have the Chase Sapphire credit card, your credit card insurance policy does not cover the Republic of Ireland. Even if it claims worldwide coverage, read the fine print and you will find Ireland is excluded. I highly recommend opting for insurance or getting a Chase Sapphire. 6) Drunk driving laws are strictly enforced: Not that anyone would, but so you are aware, the legal limit is almost half that of the US at 0.05, and roadside checkpoints are common at any time of the day. If you drink at the wedding you may be over the limit the next day. If you have any questions feel free to ask Oisin.
