How We Met

July 21, 2019

Life has an interesting way of working out- after Emily took over for a youth pastor in Spring of 2019 she literally jumped out of the the church van after spending a week at Bible camp where she watched her teens fall deeper in love with Jesus. A friend/youth mom who was standing by the van joked with Emily that the other youth leaders Emily was replacing can't move yet, who was slated to move later that summer, they hadn't told her who she should marry (more to that story). In that same scene, said youth kid's mom said, "You should meet my friend, Avery! That's who you should marry." The rest is history.

The Proposal

February 22, 2020

After helping to host her best friend's baby shower- Avery had planned on going out to dinner with Emily's parents who were in town for the weekend. Earlier in the day Avery had told Emily that due to events going on in town he couldn't get reservations any later than 5:45pm, giving Emily exactly 30 minutes after the baby shower to prepare for dinner. After Emily finished tearing down and cleaning up from the baby shower, Avery came and picked Emily up for an "early dinner". Emily asked Avery where they were going, and he told her a local Mexican restaurant is the only place he could get a reservation. As he was driving he quickly turned off on another road to go see the sunset. This particular hill was the highest point in town. Once they arrived Emily was still clueless and was just content looking at the sunset briefly. Avery asked to go on a walk and look at it more, taking Emily's hand. He lead her to a circle of white roses, babies breath, and pedals in a circle where he went down on one knee and asked Emily to be his wife- which Emily instantly said, "YES!" Emily may not have gotten her fajitas that night but did get a Fiance.
