Aso Ebi

Introduction to Aso Ebi

*****

For many of you, this may be your first Nigerian wedding — don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Aso Ebi (pronounced AH‑shoh ehh‑bee, meaning “family cloth” in the Yoruba language) is a tradition where guests wear matching fabrics made specially for a wedding. It’s a beautiful way to show unity, celebrate the couple, and add to the beauty and excitement of the day. It’s highly encouraged (because the photos look amazing), but absolutely not mandatory. For the evening wedding reception, guests will wear different colors depending on who you're coming to represent. If you're representing the bride, you'll be in peach. If you're here for the groom, your clothes will be olive green.
