From the earliest years that Nick can remember, he has visited family every Memorial Day weekend at his grandfather's cabin in Montana. He grew up wandering the woods with his cousins, spent hours with his feet dipped in the creek, and spent the nights next to a campfire or at the dinner table playing poker. Nick has always considered Montana a sanctuary away from home, and he looks forward to this tradition every year. When Kayla came into his life, he wanted to share this part of his life with her, too. Since 2016, the two have enjoyed spending time with family at the cabin every year. As Kayla's love for Montana grew, she wanted to explore more of what the state had to offer. In September of 2020, Nick and Kayla headed north to Whitefish, MT. Whitefish is known for mountainous adventures year round, which is why the two were so excited to explore the area. It was within the first few hours of arriving that they knew that they had found something special. The two spent the trip hiking Glacier National Park, kayaking crystal clear lakes, shopping in locally owned boutiques, and watched the sunset every night. On this trip, both Kayla and Nick felt like they fell in love all over again. Kayla made Nick promise that he would take her back one day, and eight months later, he did just that. In May of 2021, on their way to their annual reunion, Nick took Kayla on a side trip to their new favorite little town. After spending the day at Glacier National Park and walking around Whitefish, they went to the heart of the town called Whitefish City Beach. He walked her next to the water, told her how much he loved her, and asked her to marry him. After their little getaway, they headed to the cabin to celebrate with their family.
