Katy and Caro have been pretty much inseparable since they met in undergrad (except for the first 2 weeks when they did NOT like each other). They have grown up together from bickering, carefree college kids to real adults with their own growing families. Katy introduced Carolina to the travel life and got her hooked. From the beaches and rainforests of Costa Rica to the architecture and culture (and many, MANY stairs) of Europe, they have had countless adventures together. Carolina will always be Katy's first Olvera love.

Gus Cruz

Gus and Mario are legally brothers after Gus decided to marry into this crazy family. Whether it's arguing about fantasy football or about who's car fits the most Costco packages of water, Gus has been a true brother in the sense that he always looks out for Mario. Especially after Gus married Mario's biggest bully, Carolina.

Jane Olvera

Jane hated Katy when they first met. She couldn't help but think who is this white girl that's always sleeping in the fort under my sister's bed...BUT she couldn't help but grow to love Katy after she realized how awesome she is. Now they're going to be sisters FOREVER and Jane's kids will really be Katy's nephew and niece (even though they already are anyway by heart)

During the pandemic, Matt took advantage of Mario's open taco bar every week, not only by trying to kill him with weird beers but also by his willingness to try everything Mario cooked. Matt is always down for a good time and is one of the nicest people to get along with, plus Mario loves his baby blue eyes.

Sydney Petersen

Kydney. The amazing team name that results when you add together Katy and Sydney (even if they lose whatever game it is they were playing). Even though Katy is the oldest of their group and Sydney is the youngest, they just get each other. Pharmacy school would never have been the same without Kydney.

Chris and Mario will officially be brothers after the wedding but ever since they met Chris has treated Mario like one of the family. From sharing a common interest of teasing Katy to telling old stories about Mattress Firm and the "biggest sale of the year", they truly hit it off from the beginning.

Teresita Gaytan

Katy first met TG in undergrad. They have had MANY adventures together over the past 13 years. One night they decided to move the living room loveseat to the balcony of their apartment and even though they had to climb over it to be able to actually sit down, they spent all night talking about life and laughing and crying. She was the first one to know that Mario and Katy were together.

Joel "Bubba" has been part of the Olvera family for over 15 years. He is a brother to Mario in every way except for blood. Whether it's playing X-Box together or making sure Mario got home safe from a bar, Bubba has always been there for a laugh and to make sure Mario got home safe.

Katy met Madi in pharmacy school and lived with her for 6 weeks while they completed one of their rotations together and they had a blast!! (They also both actually worked out on a regular basis for those 6 weeks...) She's one of the kindest, smartest, most fun people Katy knows!

Katy met Ravin in Greece while backpacking through Europe with Carolina. They bonded over HEB and how it's the BEST grocery store in existence (as any Texan knows). When they got back to the US, Katy and Ravin kept in touch and when she came up to DFW to visit us one weekend, we introduced Ravin to who is now her husband. Ravin is one of the most kind-hearted people Katy knows.
