They met one weekend when Katy went home with Carolina 13 years ago. Over the next few years they got to know each other until eventually they all lived together in one big house. There was a while where they didn't get along AT ALL to the frustration of everyone, especially Carolina. At some point, Katy grew to see what a good guy Mario really is and began to fall in love. They began secretly dating for fear of making the sisters uncomfortable. Finally, it came out in the open that they were dating and with time everyone went from accepting it to loving it. After years in the making, Katy and Mario are in love and Katy will be #OfficiallyOlvera!

Originally, Mario had big plans to pop the question on a Spring Break trip to Mexico City. That, unfortunately, was right when COVID-19 was getting started so their trip got canceled. They decided to take a weekend getaway to an AirBNB on the Guadalupe River. It was a perfect, secluded spot surrounded by trees, lots of land, and herds of deer. Katy was teaching Mario how to play Texas Hold'em and 5 Card draw on the patio while they listened to a playlist of all their favorite songs that Mario secretly put together. Unbeknownst to Katy, Mario already had the ring under his chair and was planning on popping the question any minute. She unwittingly set up his opportunity perfectly by asking him to dance (which if you know Katy, she doesn't do). While they danced, Mario turned around and picked up the ring from under his chair and asked Katy with the sweetest speech to be his wife.
