July 4, 2019 at 10 am. The bride's favorite event growing up! A quintessential American 4th of July!
The fireworks display on the Fourth of July in Peoria, IL ranks among the top 3% best fireworks displays in the country. Although the actual 25-minute show begins at 9.30 p.m., most of the people go early to get the best vantage points. Several thousands of firework shells are automatically launched into the air by computers, synchronized with the music, and form many patriotic themes simulcast on 6 local radio stations. Of course, the finale, which often lasts for 2.5 minutes, has the grandest forms and music. Food and beverages are being sold at both sides of the river — Peoria and East Peoria. Also, live bands and performers provide entertainment before the actual fireworks display begins. You might also join or watch the contests along the river — a hot dog eating contest, for example. In case of rain on the Fourth of July, the fireworks display is moved to the following day.
