Dane County Farmer's Market
Madison's largest farmer's market occurs Saturday mornings from 6:15 am – 1:45 pm on the Capitol square. Pick up some scones, Stella's cheesy bread, and admire the variety of fruits and vegetables for snacking. We recommend going early!
Bike the Lake Loop
Enjoy a 13-mile ride around Lake Monona! The Lake Loop is a great way to explore Madison. The loop is regularly marked with signs to guide your ride through neighborhoods and along the lake. Madison B-cycle (E-bike) stations are conveniently located with many stations along or close to the Loop and can be rented with their app. We recommend starting at stations near Olbrich Park and Garver Feed Mill https://discovermonona.com/lake-loop-map/
State Street
This downtown avenue connecting Capitol Square with the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus is pedestrian-only and is lined with a number of cafes, bars, and shops.
Olbrich Botanical Gardens
Take a relaxing walk through Olbrich's beautiful gardens and landscapes. The conservatory offers free admission to their outdoor gardens.
UW-Madison Arboretum
The Arboretum is a great place for a walk or exercise. Be sure to check out the Wisconsin Native Plant Garden or the Longenecker Horticultural Gardens located near the Visitor's Center.
