Travel Note
Vermont is the most rural state on the Eastern Seaboard, and most travel in the area is by car. You will likely want to rent a vehicle to explore the area if you aren't driving yourself. For those who don't plan to rent a vehicle, we aim to make it easy for you to attend all facets of the celebration. The ceremony location is a 30-45 minute drive south of Burlington: a shuttle bus with limited seating will be available to the ceremony from downtown Burlington, and from the ceremony site to the reception. Rideshare services are available throughout the Burlington area (a relatively new development!), as are multiple independent taxi companies. Check back on this space for recommendations: we plan to coordinate with a local taxi provider to be on hand for rides to and from the ceremony (in addition to the shuttle) and after the reception.
Travel Note
Burlington's airport (BTV) has daily flights to multiple hubs, including Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Detroit, and Montreal. If you're looking for a cheaper flight, we recommend looking for flights to Boston (BOS), Montreal (YUL), or New York / Newark (LGA, JFK, EWR) and making your way via alternative transportation (see below).
Travel Note
It can be a beautiful trip to Burlington from any direction -- including from other hub cities on the East Coast. From Boston, it is a 3.5 hour drive through New Hampshire and the Green Mountains (daily buses available from South Station). From New York, a 5-hour drive through the Hudson Valley and along Lake Champlain or a 7-hour scenic train trip on the daily Ethan Allen Express. But the closest major airport is in fact Montreal, less than two hours away by car! Just be sure to factor in time for a border crossing. We encourage you to explore these options, particularly if you plan to extend your vacation and explore more of Vermont. For those considering trains or driving (including road trips from points North, South, East, or West), Benjamin is happy to talk to you at length about your route options.
Hotel
We have reserved room blocks at two area establishments for those who are interested (see below). The Burlington area -- and Vermont as a whole -- has many wonderful, independently-operated, inns, bed & breakfasts, and home stays. We encourage you to explore your options, and we're happy to share our insights if you have questions on locations you're considering. If you go this route, we recommend staying in or close to Burlington for ease of travel home from the reception venue.
