FAQs

We're answering the questions we hear from you below. If you don't see your question here, we set up a new account where you can email us directly: odileandbenjamin@gmail.com. Send any questions about timing, logistics, travel, lodging, weather, "who else is coming," "will my ex be there," etc. and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
Question

How will I get to the venue? How close is it to where I'm staying?

Answer

Kingsland Bay State Park is about a 45-minute drive south of downtown Burlington. There is ample parking if you choose to drive. We will offer a shuttle bus to and from the venue. If you plan to take the shuttle, please keep your eyes peeled for a sign-up email so we can be sure there are enough seats. After the reception, the shuttle bus will drop you back in downtown Burlington, less than a ten-minute walk from the after party.

Question

Do I need a car?

Answer

If you're staying in downtown Burlington, you can rely on transportation we'll provide for the wedding, the reception, and the after party. The welcome party and farewell brunch are both about two miles from downtown: if you don't have a car - or if you're staying outside the city center - you may need to take a cab, a rideshare, or arrange a ride with another guest. The Burlington area has Uber and Lyft, as well as several local taxi companies. Downtown Burlington is highly walkable for your exploration -- though you'll miss other treasures of Vermont that are further afield (see Things to Do)!

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Yes! Except for the after party, all weekend events are family friendly, and we would love to have your little ones there. The state park where we'll be during the day on Friday and for the wedding and reception has lots of space to run around.

Question

What will I be eating and drinking?

Answer

Catering from Woodbelly pizza and beverages (including alcohol) will be provided at the wedding and reception. NOTE: To comply with state park regulations, the dinner and reception will have a SELF-SERVE bar. Keep it together, have fun. At the welcome party, food and beverage from Citizen Cider will be available for purchase (https://www.citizencider.com/). We will provide some snacks at the after party, but we anticipate a cash bar. On Sunday morning, we're pleased to provide bagels, fixings, and pastries from local restaurants like Myer's Bagels and August First bakery.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

According to one popular print, Vermont's official weather forecast is "Hot and sunny, turning to sleet by mid-morning, becoming a blizzard by noon, 6-42 inches, followed by warm, moist, tropical air which will probably bring severe thunderstorms, a flood watch, and a heat wave." Plan accordingly.

Question

What should I wear? What should I pack?

Answer

When we say, "wear what makes you feel beautiful," we really mean it! We want you to celebrate in something that makes you feel your best. Pack for the weather (see above), and do be sure to bring sunscreen, swim gear, and good hiking shoes to enjoy the lake and the outdoors.

Question

Who are your vendors and why have you chosen them?

Answer

Thank you so much for asking! We have tried to be as intentional as possible in planning the event, and we are so grateful to those who have offered their unique skills and support. Catering is provided by Woodbelly Pizza (https://woodbellypizza.com/), a worker-owned cooperative sourcing flour, meats, cheese, and veggies from organic farmers across Vermont. Beverages will be sourced when feasible from local craft breweries, cideries, and distilleries - with some reasonable contributions courtesy of Milwaukee, WI and the Western Cape. Wedding invitations were designed and hand-printed by Raina Fox (https://www.instagram.com/foxprintcards/), an independent artist based in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Washington, D.C. For wedding coordination we are working with Green Mountain Moments (https://www.greenmountainmoments.com/), owned and operated by Lauren Shover and Teresa Gould, who work full time as community mental health professionals in the region. Photography will be provided by Anna A. Victoria (https://www.anna-victoria.com/), a digital photographer focused on documenting artists, small businesses, and love in the Catskills and Hudson Valley. In helping to design the ritual celebration of our marriage, we thank Anna Del Castillo, Executive Director of Our Own Deep Wells (https://www.ourowndeepwells.com/), for her gifts of soulful care and facilitation. For home-grown flowers, a home-built arbor, wedding cake, and many acts of support and kindness, we are so grateful to Hannah Schwartz, River Parker, Valor Marsh, and their friends at the Riverflow Community (https://www.riverflowcommunity.org/), an intentional community where those with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities form friendships, gain vocational skills, and pursue dignified, self-directed lives. We encourage you to learn about and support our friends and collaborators!

Question

Who else is coming? Will my ex be there?

Answer

Finding out who's there will be part of the fun! We can confirm that both parties from only [NUMBER REDACTED] former couples have been invited.
