IndyCar is coming to Nashville with the inaugural Music City Grand Prix, and it just so happens to be the same weekend as our wedding! For three days in August (6-8), the streets of downtown will come alive with the sounds of music, food, and racing. Also, this is why you need to book your hotels early :)!
Hoping to hear some live country music? We encourage you to try out the Listening Room Cafe. Grab a meal or a drink and listen to the stories behind the songs from the people who actually wrote them! We bet you will hear one you know!
Hattie B's is Rob's favorite! There are several locations, including one in Midtown, but we encourage you to visit one slightly outside of downtown as the lines are not quite so long. If you're looking for the true "OG" hot chicken, you can also drive to Prince's in Brentwood!
Pins is located near downtown. They have all kinds of games- from life size "beer pong" to duck bowling and arcade games its a great place to gather with friends!
We love some good Mexican food! Saint Anejo is walking distance from the Thompson hotel, located on McGavock Street along with several restaurants. Kristin loves their hot chicken tacos! Not craving Mexican? There’s several other options from Italian to Sushi just next door on “M Street.”
One of our favorite BBQ spots in town! There’s a few Edley’s locations, including East Nashville and 12 South!
CMHOF is our wedding venue, but the museum will unfortunately not be open during the wedding. However, we highly encourage you to check out “the Smithsonian of country music” while you are in town. The museum spans 350,000 square feet of prime downtown real estate, which it packs with thousands of artifacts, two performance theaters, and countless rotating special exhibitions. The museum’s permanent installation, Sing Me Back Home, takes visitors through the evolution of country music from its roots in the nineteenth century to today’s biggest hitmakers.
Fifth and broad is on the corner of, you guessed it, 5th and Broadway. There are tons of shops, restaurants, and bars within the space. Here you can find many of Nashville’s favorite spots- Prince’s Hot Chicken, Five Daughters Donuts, Slim and Husky’s Pizza- all in one space!
The 12 South area is known for its shopping, dining, and murals. This is where you can find the “I believe in Nashville” sign. Some other favorites in 12 South are: Reese Witherspoon’s store Draper James, Edley’s BBQ, Christy’s Cookies, and White Mercantile. We also love Urban Grub for dinner, but be sure to make a reservation!!
If you don’t mind the weekend crowds, the shopping at Green Hills mall is the best in Nashville! There’s also some great healthy lunch spots in Green Hills (Chopt salads, Cava, True Foods). If you’re looking for an ~experience~ you should check out the restaurant at Restoration Hardware.
Sylvan Park is a cute part of town not too far away from the city. You can take a walk on the greenway or grab lunch at Neighbor’s or Pancho and Lefty’s! We love to go to this area to meet friends for a drink because it is still fun but not quite as crowded!! We also recommend Cafe Nonna and Park Cafe for dinner! Both require reservations!
Take a drive down music row and see where all the magic happens!
