At the height of COVID Kaitlin was living alone in Washington Heights (Upper Manhattan, New York City) and Isaiah was staying in West Orange, New Jersey with his Mom. Kaitlin found a creative outlet and started writing her first episodic, "City of Strangers." Her story needed original jazz music- so she reached out to her friend who attended Juilliard to see if he had any recommendations. Through her Facebook messages, he sent Isaiah's Facebook Profile to her. After listening to his solo piano version of "Hymn to Freedom", she was raptured by his playing and immediately messaged him about working together. He messaged her back, they scheduled a first-time zoom meeting and soon after unintentionally ended up on their very first date.
November 20th, 2022, marked their two-year anniversary. In those two years, Isaiah and Kaitlin had big life events happen within their relationship. Isaiah got baptized at their home church, Renaissance Church. Kaitlin got a full-time job at their home church AND moved into her own studio apartment. They were learning and growing together so deeply with Christ at the center. Isaiah wanted to bring Kaitlin out of the city on their two-year anniversary. They had driven upstate to Warwick, New York (a quaint town with waterfalls and small-town coffee shops). When they arrived, Isaiah brought Kaitlin to a nearby waterfall. He talked about giving her a small gift for their anniversary (when they had already agreed that they weren't going to gift each other anything). He mentioned that he talked to everyone about the gift, including her parents, and Kaitlin finally knew what was going on. He asked her to marry him, and in tears, she said YES!
