The Patio Sessions event on Saturday is not hosted by us and it is not a formal wedding event. That said, we thought it would be fun to find something free and local where anyone who is in town could stop by if they want. Patio Sessions are hosted by the Restaurant "Chasing Rabbits" located within the Solaris Hotel every Saturday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The actual event takes place outdoors on the Solaris Plaza and Ice Rink (walkable from any hotel in Vail Village). There is an outdoor Bar if you would like to purchase a drink. Harold and I are planning to hang out there from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and if you are able to stop by we would love to see you! Patio Sessions are free but do require that you reserve a Ticket. You can reserve a ticket here: https://chasingrabbitsvail.com/schedule/solaris-patio-sessions-live-music-on-solaris-plaza-feat-dave-tucker-2/. Harold and I have also reserved 40 tickets just in case someone who wants to attend cannot reserve one in advance.
Please remember there is NO on-site parking at the ceremony site or the Vail Nordic Center. If you are just coming in for the day please park at the Vail Village Parking structure. Parking is free after 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. Walk from the parking structure to the lobby of Gravity Haus and catch one of the shuttles to the Ceremony (3:30 pm and 3:50 pm). Please be aware that in May of this year the Town of Vail extended their winter overnight parking pricing. It is now $60 to park overnight at the Vail Village Center. (Charged between 4:00 am and 5:00 am.) Learn more: https://www.vail.gov/government/departments/transportation-services/parking-information
First try texting Harold's Phone 720-937-7797. If available we will see if one of the shuttles can make another trip. You can also call a RideShare (Lyft or Uber) and request a ride to this address: 1785 Sunburst Dr, Vail, CO 81657. The walking trail to the wedding island starts at the end of the road where you are dropped off. If it is past 4:30 p.m. (Ceremony Start Time) we recommend getting a rideshare (Lyft or Uber) directly to the Vail Nordic Center. You can also check the free bus schedule at the Vail Transit Center. The Yellow Line will go directly to the Vail Golf and Nordic Center.
Contact Kristen or Harold to let us know your limitations. Disability Parking IS available at the reception (Vail Golf & Nordic Center) if you have a valid placard. The venue will provide a golfcart from the parking lot to the Wedding Island. If you have a disability placard and will be parking at the venue we recommend dropping any other passengers at the trailhead to the wedding island and then returning to the Nordic Center to park.
Can we say classy comfort? We hope you will help us honor the day by wearing something nicer than your everyday but comfortable enough to enjoy sitting, standing, and dancing! A few practical reminders: There is a 5 min walk to the ceremony location which will be on a grassy island. Temperatures are currently predicted to vary from the high 70s during the day to the mid 40s at night. We recommend flat shoes and layers if you get cold.
We have both chosen to keep our own names.
The Denver to Vail drive is an easy paved highway with at least two lanes the entire way from Denver to Vail. There are two mountain tunnels - one short and one long. The entire trip generally takes between an hour and 45 minutes to two hours. If you will be flying out of Denver we recommend leaving Vail at least four hours prior to your flight. If you have rented a car plan give yourself another 30 to 45 minutes.
For our out-of-state guests, we suggest arriving in Vail on either Friday or Saturday and leaving on Monday. Monday traffic out of the mountains tends to be much smoother than Sunday. For our in-state guests we hope you will choose to stay the night on Sunday - or promise us you will make safe choices at the reception.
Once you are in Vail moving around without a car is relatively easy. The town is entirely walkable and the bus system is free. There are many shops, bars, restaurants, and trails to explore. Most of the hotels offer parking (for a fee) and a shuttle service. There are two city parking structures that offer overnight parking - Vail Village Structure ($60 per night) and the Red Sandstone Garage ($35 per night).
We do not have a gift registry or cash fund. We know that it is expensive to attend a destination wedding and we look forward to celebrating with you if you are able to join!
