Things To Do & Where To Eat
Rye Beach
Rye Beach is $20/person for all-day access for all non-residents. The beach is connected to Rye Town Park, which is also a great spot to go on a walk or run! (You do not have to pay to walk/run in the park). The Barley Beach House is a beachfront restaurant perfect for lunch. If you go at night, set up some chairs to watch the Friday night fireworks!
Playland Park
Playland is Rye's own little amusement park! A great day trip! $30 per person for unlimited rides, with discounts for spectators, juniors and Westchester residents (with proof of residency). And if you go on Friday night you can see the fireworks! Walk down to the Tiki bar for a seaside drink after some games and rides.
Harbor Point
About a 20 minute drive from downtown Rye and a 7 minute drive from the hotel, spend the day in Harbor Point (where George and Sarah used to live)! Tons of good restaurants and bars. Pro-tip: get a bite to eat at Fortina or Mexicue and then take the free water taxi over to The Crab Shell for a rum punch (or Sarah & George's guilty pleasure: a Miami Vice) - can't go wrong!
SoundWaters
Check out the Soundwaters website for information about public daytime/sunset sailboat cruises, kayak and paddle board rentals and much more! Located in Stamford right near Sarah & George's old apartment!
Greenwich Avenue
Our own mini Rodeo Drive! Spend the day strolling Greenwich Ave - they have every store you can think of! Meli-Melo is a great spot for lunch if you need a shopping break! Great crepes, smoothies, soups and ice cream (try their mint chocolate chip)!
Wainwright House, Inc.
Take a Yoga or Meditation class at the Wainwright House! This Rye landmark serves as a learning center dedicated to inspiring greater understanding through body, mind, spirit, and community. Yoga classes are $15 for a drop-in and Meditation classes are $5! Check out their class schedule! Fun fact: The Wainwright House is the oldest non-profit, non-sectarian holistic learning center in the United States
Purchase Street
Shop the boutiques of downtown Rye! Hit Havana Jeans, Palmer & Purchase, Pink, Great Stuff, Love Bella, Shoes & More and many others! Great if you need a last minute party outfit :) grab a smoothie at the Granola Bar to sip on while you shop!
Rye Ridge Shopping Center
If you're looking for the nearest Chipotle, Starbucks, grocery store, Chopt, Cava, this shopping center has it all and is very close to the hotel! Perfect place to grab something on the run!
PLUSHBLOW Rye
If you’re looking for a place to get your hair blown out before the party, head to Plush Blow! A blow dry bar right in the middle of downtown Rye. You can get a wash/blowdry from $40 or a dry style from $35. Click the link to book your service!
Tiffany Nail & Spa
Sarah's go-to nail salon in Rye! Peaceful, relaxing atmosphere, easy to park, and the women who work there are so nice. Added bonus - it is right across the street from Jerry's so you can go before or after your mani/pedi :)
Rye Grill & Bar
One of the late night hot spots of Rye! A huge restaurant, right near the Rye train station, perfect for dinner or after dinner drinks. The bar starts to get busy after dinner and becomes the late night place to be! If you eat there, highly recommend the Cape Cod Salad and the Tollhouse cookie pie - Sarah and Abby's go-to!
Kelly's Sea Level
A Nye family favorite - great dive-y spot if you're looking for an award-winning burger and a bud light. Order the Irish nachos: crispy battered potato spirals with melted jack & cheddar cheese, bacon, scallions & sour cream - the best treat!
Village Social Kitchen & Bar
One of George's favorite restaurants from working at Tesla - go to Village Social for a lively scene and amazing food. We recommend the polenta bites and/or social wings to start, the short rib grilled cheese and the daredevil pizza. The kale/quinoa fried rice is one of Debbie's faves!
Rye Roadhouse
Where you can find Steve Nye and his friends on most given days. Another dive-y spot if you're looking for some beers and a good time! Fun fact: they serve alligator nuggets which are apparently very good.
Colony Grill
If you're looking for the best (& Pres-approved) pizza around, check out Colony Grill. It is a one-of-a-kind, thin-crust pizza that is best served with the signature “hot oil” topping. They literally only serve pizza. George eats an entire pizza to himself. This is also one of Sarah and Steve's favorite spots to meet for lunch. One bite, everyone knows the rules.
bartaco
The site of Sarah & George's first date (at the Stamford location). Lively scene with amazing tacos and spicy margaritas! Order the Mexican street corn (pro tip: off the cob) or the street corn fritters. They don't take reservations and there is usually a wait - but it is worth it!
Aurora
One of Amanda's favorite restaurants, this is a perfect go-to if you're looking for Italian food. Amanda usually orders the parpadelle bolognase or the chicken milanese - both delicious. Also highly recommend the gnocchi - Sarah and Holly's classic order.
Rafele Rye
For a slightly more upscale option try Rafele! "Rustic Italian recipes created with a New York influence" - this is the restaurant's second location - the original is in NYC. Beautiful restaurant and great Italian food!
Charley's Pier
For some fun tropical drinks and beautiful views of the sound, head to the Tiki Bar! Park at Playland and then when you bring back your Tiki bar receipt you will be reimbursed for your parking fee. You will truly feel like you're in the islands! Live music almost every night!
Jerrys Post Road Market
For the best BEC in Rye, head to Jerry's! This deli has anything you want. if you're looking for a hangover cure go to Jerry's and get the biggest egg sandwich you can! Insider tip - get a hashbrown in your BEC. They also have great chicken cutlets and iced coffee and donuts (Sarah and Amanda used to get their donuts every morning.. shhh).
June & Ho
If you're looking for another good place to pick up lunch swing by June & Ho in downtown Rye! Amazing sandwiches all on homemade bread. Sarah loves the #9 - Homebaked Country Ham, Melted Homemade Mozzarella, Honey Mustard, Glazed Sweet Balsamico Onions on Homemade Baguette.
Hand Rolled Bagels
For a freshly made, mouth-watering, doughy NY-style bagel, head over to hand rolled! They make all of their bagels right there and they are delicious!
On the Way Cafe
If you’re looking for a sit-down breakfast Saturday morning, head over to On the Way Cafe! They have all the quintessential breakfast menu items - delicious and fluffy pancakes! Get there early - it can get packed!
Longford's Ice Cream
Longford's is the best ice-cream in town - ask anyone! They have been producing small-batch, all-natural, premium ice-cream since 1992. We've been regulars basically since they opened!
Town Dock
For another great place for drinks, hit the Dock! “The best night in town” - American comfort food with a New England twist. Happy hour starts at 4!
The Pub
We strictly only recommend this bar if a) it is after midnight or b) you're heavily under the influence. When every other bar in Rye closes and you want to continue the party, head to the pub! They stay open until 4am
