In fact, it actually begins with two newspapers -- The Omaha World-Herald and The Daily Nebraskan. Jon had just graduated from Purdue and moved to Lincoln, NE to cover the Nebraska Huskers football team for The World-Herald. Not far away, Megan was starting her senior year at UNL in a 5-bedroom house with her friend, Jandi. Jon replied to a roommate ad in the Daily Nebraskan that Jandi had placed. After weeks of missed calls, delayed fb messages, and the confusion of thinking Jon was from the country of Peru instead or Purdue, Jon and Megan finally made plans to meet up at Starbucks. Over coffee and tea, they fell in like, moved in together, and 10 months later, started dating.

After just two short months of dating, Megan moved to Baton Rouge, LA to volunteer and Jon started his second year at the OWH. Megan moved back to Omaha the following summer, and the next few years would take them back and forth from Lincoln to Omaha. Jon eventually moved to Omaha, and in December of 2015, they became roommates once again. This time there were just three of them: Jon, Megan, and their dog, Alex Mack.

In May of 2017, Jon and Megan took a road trip to Chicago with Alex Mack. On the morning of May 12th they went to the dog park on Lake Michigan so Mack could enjoy some water play. After the dog park they headed to a neighboring park to enjoy the city view. It was there that Jon (and Mack) asked the all-important question and of course, Megan said yes!
