FAQs

The Wedding Website of Nuria Iturrios and Andrew Montalvo
The safety and comfort of our guests is our #1 priority. Please take the time to read through the FAQs on travel and Covid safety precautions. Please let us know if there are any questions we didn't cover!
Question

What are the Covid safety precautions for this weekend?

Answer

We are having most events over the weekend in an outdoor setting and will do our best to seat you with people within your circle. Dinner will be plated individually. We are happy to report that over 80% of our guests will be fully vaccinated. Revert back to this site for more updates.

Question

Do I need to get a Covid test?

Answer

Yes. We are requesting that all guests get a PCR Covid test the week leading up to our wedding if you are not vaccinated. If this is something you are not able or comfortable doing, we ask that you let us know in advance so we can take this into consideration. Here are some testing sources and sites we recommend: Kaiser Permanente San Diego County free testing sites: Google Find a testing site in San Diego: arcgis.com Family Health Centers of San Diego: www.fhcsd.org Pixel Home Test Kit (covered by insurance): www.pixel.labcorp.com

Question

Do I still need to get a PCR test if I am vaccinated?

Answer

If you have had both doses of an authorized vaccine two weeks prior to the wedding, we will not require a test. We do ask that you let us know that you've been vaccinated so we can keep track!

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

There will be a shuttle provided for all guests departing from Hotel Lucerna Ensenada. Exact times are below. If you do not wish to use the shuttle please plan to arrive at 3:45 PM.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

Yes. A shuttle will be picking up at 2:30 PM leaving no later than 3 PM at the City Express Plus and the Lucerna Hotels. If you are not staying there please plan to be there if you wish to use the shuttle. The return shuttles will return promptly at 12 AM. There will be a van doing a 10 PM pickup if you wish to return earlier than midnight.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes.

Question

Will I have phone service?

Answer

Unless you have an international plan, you won't have cel service as you enter into Mexico. However, we recommend calling your carrier the week of the wedding and adding on international service and data for that month. Typically it's not expensive and will allow you to use convenient apps such as Google Maps. Remember to turn data roaming on in your device settings!

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! Please do not forget your passport as you will need it to cross the border back into the US. If you have Global Entry, that will give you expedited entry back into the US so bring that as well.

Question

Should I take out cash or pesos?

Answer

Cards and US dollars are accepted most places like hotels and restaurants. However, the main road to get from San Diego to the hotel along the ocean is a toll road that requires cash. Other smaller restaurants or shops might be cash only as well. We recommend taking out a small amount for the weekend for these types of expenses. No need to change it to pesos, if you do the exchange rate is about $1 = 19 pesos at the moment.

Question

How long are wait times at the border? What are my options?

Answer

Wait times via car can vary from 40 minutes up to 2 hours in the general lane. Average wait time is 75 minutes. If you have a Passport Card, you are able to use the Ready Lane where the average is about 60 minutes. If you have a Global Entry Card you are able to use the SENTRI lane where average wait time is 15 minutes. Last option is a shuttle or transportation that will drop you off so you can walk through the border and pick you up on the other side. This will probably have the shortest wait time.

Question

I've heard the US requires proof of negative Covid test when traveling abroad. Is this the same for crossing the border by land?

Answer

No, this is only for air travel. The US (nor Mexico), requires proof of negative Covid test when crossing the border via car. If you are vaccinated, feel free to bring your card but you most likely will not need it.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes, please refer back to the Weekend Itinerary page.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Please stick with what is in the formal invitation to come. We hope to share this day with our closest friends and family. Thanks for understanding!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Other than our ring bearer and flower girls, please leave the kiddos at home!

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

If you have severe food allergies or dietary restrictions please let us know directly.

Question

What will the weather be like? Are events outside?

Answer

Please check Ensenada for weather updates. We expect the weather to be a temperate 70 degrees on average this time of year. However, please consider bringing a shawl or jacket in case it gets chillier at night. Ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing are all fully outdoors.

Question

Is it easy to get around in the area?

Answer

It is easy to get around in Ensenada. We highly recommend making sure you have access to cellular data so that you can use Google Maps. There are also Ubers available. When you get inland towards Valle de Guadalupe, service and Ubers are harder to get so we recommend getting directions prior if you are driving.

Question

Are there any items I can't bring back to the US crossing the border?

Answer

Yes! Please refrain from bringing fruits, vegetables or meat. Basically anything fresh. You are good to bring anything process or packaged such as candy or chips. Alcohol is allowed as well.
