While working at Kmart as young 18 year olds we quickly became friends. We were both dating other people and our lives were a mess. We were there for each other through the chaos of our teenage lives and for two years we were just friends but Trent knew all along that I was the one for him. He would work an 8 hour shift in the morning and then stay walking around with me while I worked until close. Our manager Linda let this happen because she said we were always meant to be together and I needed to open my eyes to that. Guess you were right Linda! We started hanging out outside of work and that's when I saw the real Trent and fell in love. Trent was convinced that we'd only ever be friends so when I kissed him for the first time it took him a minute to realize I was even kissing him. I literally thought "is he going to kiss me back?" From then on we let things flow naturally, we didn't decide we were going to date, we just let our feelings guide us instead of our heads. Our first "date" was a group date to see Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Shortly after that I went on trip to Italy with my grandma and while I was there I couldn't talk to him. It was during that time separated that I knew I loved him and needed him in my life. When I got back to Arkansas he surprised me by being there to pick me up with my mom. That day he asked me to officially be his girlfriend, and of course I said yes but we were both already way past that and in love.

Over the years we've grown up together, in our relationship and each one of us individually. We continue to grow, learn and most importantly we choose each other everyday, even when we argue if the sheets should be tucked in or not and which peanut butter is the best, We all know its Skippy ;) There have been good jobs and bad. There have been colleges and moving across the country to North Carolina and back. Whatever we decide to do and where ever that takes us, we've always done it as a team. If one of us has a dream, we both do because it doesn't matter what we are doing as long as we are doing it together. While living in North Carolina we decided to have our first child, Oliver Matthew. Even though we loved living there, we knew it was important for our children to be close to our families and we made our way back to Iowa. During our going away party is when Trent proposed to me. Only took 6 years ;) He set up a surprise party with all our friends and when I walked in all of our friends were pretending to propose to each other. Although I didn't see that until later because all I saw was my friend Andrew with the biggest Cheshire Cat smile ever! When I turned around Trent was down on one knee <3 I never thought he'd actually be able to surprise me. A few years after that we decided to have our second child, Daxton Joshua. Both our boys gave us our first real scares in life being born early. Thankfully they were both strong healthy little guys though. Since having children we have only grown closer, taking on all the good, the laughs, the hard and the scary. Whatever life throws at us, we will conquer it together. Although we were anxious to be married we knew we needed to hold off for a little while and focus on making a home for our family. In 2019 we were lucky enough to purchase our first home together! And in 2020 we decided it was finally our time to plan!
