We first met in Philadelphia through a mutual friend five years ago, in February of 2013. Initially, Sabrina was rather unimpressed by Nathan's lack of excitement about meeting a fellow Californian all the way across the country. Throughout the next few months, we would occasionally bump into one another at Tuesday night basketball sessions. One day, Nathan bluntly asked Sabrina, "Do you study?" Now we all know what "study sessions" mean in college. But Nathan was no longer in college. These were literally study sessions. That quarter, Sabrina earned the best grades she had throughout all of college. (Nathan's were okay). The silence couldn't last forever though, and once we started talking, things just naturally fell into place.
The day started with "What should I wear?" followed shortly by "I have nothing to wear!" as Sabrina stared into her vast closet. Sabrina had known that today was the day for a while now. I knew that Sabrina knew, but we both played along anyways. We went out to a nice French restaurant for brunch, then took a walk through Balboa Park in San Diego. As we crossed over a bridge in the Japanese Friendship garden, I knelt on one knee and asked, "Do you marry?" (just kidding).
After the wedding, we will be jet-setting to the Mediterranean Coast in June for our honeymoon. When we return, Sabrina will be moving to Bakersfield to melt away forever with Nathan. Just kidding! We hope to move back to the Bay Area in 2020 after Nathan finishes his medical residency in Emergency Medicine. Sabrina will be back in the bay frequently to finish up her doctoral program in San Francisco.
