Things To Do

Birmingham has so many fun activities to offer and is a great food town. Here are a few of our favorites:

Red Mountain Park

2011 Frankfurt Drive, Birmingham, AL 35211

This is a great hiking spot with trails both easy and more challenging. Stephen and I love to walk the main trail here, and it's a great spot for birding!

The Red Cat Coffeehouse @ Pepper Place

2901 2nd Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233

This coffee shop is where Nora was a barista for a few years! They roast their own beans and have great espresso drinks and a good, easy breakfast. The Pepper Place location has the most space, while the Railroad Park location is smaller.

Birmingham Museum of Art

2000 Reverend Abraham Woods Junior Boulevard, Birmingham, AL 35203

The Birmingham Museum of Art is a great spot to spend an afternoon with free admission to boot! There are always interesting, new exhibits to experience that change relatively frequently.

Church Street Coffee & Books

81 Church Street, Mountain Brook, AL 35213

This coffeeshop is where Nora and Landon (Nora's brother) both work! Church Street is in a central location close to lots of restaurants and one of our local libraries. The shop has great coffee drinks with housemade syrups and pastries. While the shop is famous for their salted chocolate chip cookie known as "The Breakup Cookie," Nora recommends the Kaluha Cake, or the Cowboy Cookie, the Breakup Cookie's cousin.

Birmingham Civil Rights Institute

520 16th Street North, Birmingham, AL 35203

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is a great place to learn about the history of the city, particularly historic North Birmingham. Tickets for admission are available to buy online.
