We met on Hinge in July of 2022. Ever the planner, Nora downloaded Hinge a few days before moving up to Seattle from Eugene for her graduate internship in bioinformatics. Gunnar had been living in Seattle and working as a software developer at Amazon since graduating from University of Washington. Nora quickly came across Gunnar’s profile, which said that he loved Costco, Meats & Cheese, and Sounders & M’s games and that he was looking for someone who could help him keep a plant alive. (3 years later and the plant Nora got him is still kicking!) Nora’s profile featured numerous pictures of her (perfect) dog, Kona, and said that her love language was unloading the dishwasher and letting her pick all the toppings on a $7.99 Domino’s pizza. For our first date, we got coffee at Cafe Ladro and walked around Elliot Bay. As friends and family could likely guess, Nora did most of the talking and her first impression of Gunnar was that he was a very good listener. Gunnar’s first impression of Nora was that she was a very good talker. At the end of the date, we exchanged numbers and Gunnar was lucky enough to meet Kona - so we like to say that July 3rd is Gunnar and Kona’s anniversary, too. On our second date, we walked around Green Lake and had dinner together. Gunnar was impressed by Nora’s sheer willpower and determination to walk 6 miles in ballet flats, and Nora was impressed by Gunnar’s knowledge of “The Bachelorette” franchise. Pleasant conversation turned into chemistry and we both felt the “spark.” :) 2.5 years later, Gunnar proposed on the same walk where we had our first date, and a few months later we bought a home together in North Seattle. We both love Seattle and enjoy taking Kona for walks around the amazing parks here, tailgating Husky games, weekly trivia at our favorite brewery, and hosting our friends and family for dinners and parties. We are so excited to celebrate our wedding with all of our favorite people. Thank you so much for being a part of our day!
